Exploring My Faith: Non-Catholic Interviewee for Catholic School Position"

In summary, the conversation revolves around a person who interviewed for a Catholic school despite not being Catholic or active in a church. They were asked about their church membership and expressed their regret about not being more active. They also mentioned their strong faith and past involvement in a church. They sent a thank you note to the school and are hoping for a positive outcome. The conversation also includes advice from a friend who teaches at a Catholic school and the potential challenges of not being Catholic.

I interviewed for a Catholic School although I am not Catholic. I am not active in a church but am a member of a church and was asked about that. I feel this was my biggest downfall I was thinking to send them an e-mail as they said to if I thought of something I could send an e-mail. What do you think of this ???

Dear....,

I have been thinking so much about talking with all of you last week and as you said if I thought of anything else to let you know.

I have been thinking so much about talking with all of you last week and as you said if I thought of anything else to let you know.

I know that Christianity is a part of this position. I was asked about being active in a church. I was baptized and joined the Church of Christ, I do wish I was more active at a church but unfortunately that has not been the case for me for different reasons. However, I do attend church and have attended several churches in town and the Pulaski Methodist church but mostly attend the Wesley United Methodist Church I guess I have been searching for a home church since my family left the church I had grown up in. I am strong in my faith and teach my children about God and Jesus and am excited about the opportunity to have more faith about my life and my families life though this position at St. .....
I also wanted to let you know that as a Jr High and High School student I was very active at The Church of Christ and helped in the children's church and with outings. I also participated in a puppet show program where we went to different churches and presented a show about peer pressure or different subjects depending on the group. I haven't thought about how rewarding that was for so long.

I appreciate you taking the time to read this, I wanted to be sure you knew my beliefs as you considered me for this position.

Thank you again,

Does it sound like I am just doing this to get a job? Should I just let it go and what will be will be. It is that I think this really is a great opportunity and don't want to miss out.

THANKS for an ideas

I would be willing to bet that they know... but if you feel like you need to write a letter, I'd probably keep it at:

"Dear xxxxx
Thank you again for meeting with me to discuss how I fit the position for the available employment opportunity. I feel confident that my qualifications and my faith are a match for the position as well as the church. I look forward to speaking to you soon.
Sincerely,
xxxxx"

The purpose is to be a standard "thank you" note, but also to reiterate that you do have a faith that you're confident in and that you're not necessarily wanting to "switch faiths" just for a job. KWIM?

OK thanks I sent a thank you note saying less about faith than I should have but will let it go I apriciate the help. How are things going for you top sales for July and August set for you!

A close friend of mine teaches at a Catholic school and from her experience at her school, they don't care if you are active in a Protestant church-they want you to be Catholic. She was Catholic when she got the job and then converted to Methodist and basically had to hide the fact from administrators. She finally let them know and has not been treated the same ever since. So, if your answer isn't Catholic, it may not matter anyway. I hope things work out for you!

tHIS school is not that way they are 1/2 Catholic teachers 1/2 other but they are all active in their church of choice. as long as they all teach about the bible not anything else.

1. What prompted you to apply for a position at a Catholic school as a non-Catholic?

As someone who is passionate about education and values-based teaching, I have always admired Catholic schools for their strong sense of community and commitment to shaping well-rounded individuals. I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to the mission and values of a Catholic school, even as a non-Catholic.

2. How do you plan to incorporate Catholic teachings and values into your curriculum as a non-Catholic?

Although I may not share the same religious beliefs as my Catholic colleagues and students, I am committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive learning environment where all beliefs are respected. I plan to incorporate Catholic teachings and values into my curriculum by promoting empathy, compassion, and social responsibility through various activities and discussions.

3. Have you had any previous experience working in a Catholic school or with Catholic students?

While I have not worked in a Catholic school before, I have had the opportunity to work with students from diverse backgrounds, including Catholic students. I have always been open-minded and respectful of different cultures and beliefs, and I am confident in my ability to work effectively with Catholic students and their families.

4. How do you handle potential conflicts between your personal beliefs and the teachings of the Catholic Church?

I understand that as a non-Catholic working in a Catholic school, there may be times when my personal beliefs may differ from the teachings of the Church. In such situations, I will approach them with an open mind and respect for the school's values. I am committed to upholding the school's mission and will seek guidance from my Catholic colleagues and superiors to handle any conflicts professionally.

5. How will you support the school's Catholic identity and community as a non-Catholic?

I believe that my role as a teacher is not only to educate but also to support and foster a sense of community within the school. As a non-Catholic, I will actively participate in school-wide events and celebrations, and I am open to learning more about Catholic traditions and practices. I am also committed to upholding the school's Catholic identity and values in my interactions with students and colleagues.
