Empowering Teens to Serve Others: Youth Group Fundraiser Ideas and Tips

In summary, to involve teenagers in serving others through youth group fundraisers, one suggestion is to incorporate a service project into the fundraiser. Some creative fundraising ideas that may appeal to teenagers include a talent show, sports tournament, or movie night. To ensure a successful fundraiser, it is important to set clear goals and involve the teenagers in the planning process, as well as utilize social media and show appreciation to donors and volunteers. To make the fundraiser more meaningful for the teenagers involved, consider aligning the cause with their interests and values, and encouraging personal connections through sharing stories. It is also important to be aware of any legal considerations and consult with a professional if necessary.

I have a potential host (and in my opinion a potential recruit) who would like to do a fundraiser for her church youth group (about nine kids and their friends). She wants to do a demo that they learn a kitchen skill which will help them serve others (make mother's day meal, take gift to sick friend or something). That demo will be the kick off to a mission fundraiser. Any thougths or experience? THANKS.....

I think rings are great. They are easy but make a big WOW when they are done.

Bee,

A lady in my cluster is doing this same thing, except she is not doing a demo. I think the Mother's Day meal is a great idea to kick off the campaign. Anyway, the lady in my cluster game each youth member a "packet" with order forms, 2 catalogs and an envelope for money. Each youth member has a goal of $300.00 in sales and they have about 15 youth participating. If the 15 reach their goal, that's a $4,500.00 show for her and the youth gets $675.00. She is also setting up 30 minutes each Sunday morning in her fellowship hall to collect orders for them before Sunday school. They have 3 weeks to sell so it should be fairly easy to get the $300. She's giving the top seller a gift certificate to our local mall as an incentive.

1. How can we involve teenagers in serving others through our youth group fundraisers?

One idea is to have a service project as part of the fundraiser, such as a car wash or yard work for community members. This allows teens to directly see the impact of their efforts and feel more connected to the cause.

2. What are some creative fundraising ideas that would appeal to teenagers?

Some ideas could include a talent show, a sports tournament, or a movie night with a suggested donation. You could also consider partnering with local businesses to offer discounts or special deals for anyone who donates to your cause.

3. How can we ensure that our youth group fundraiser is successful?

Start by setting clear goals and expectations for the fundraiser, and involve the teenagers in the planning process. Utilize social media and other online platforms to promote the fundraiser and reach a larger audience. Additionally, make sure to show appreciation to donors and volunteers to encourage their continued support.

4. How can we make our youth group fundraiser more meaningful for the teenagers involved?

Consider choosing a cause or organization that aligns with the values and interests of the teenagers in your group. This will help them feel more passionate and invested in the fundraiser. You could also have the teens share personal stories or experiences related to the cause, to help them make a deeper connection to the purpose of the fundraiser.

5. Are there any legal considerations we should be aware of when organizing a youth group fundraiser?

Yes, it is important to research and follow any local laws and regulations related to fundraising, especially when involving minors. You may also need to obtain permits or licenses depending on the type of fundraiser you are planning. It is always a good idea to consult with a legal professional if you have any concerns or questions.
