Team ContestsWhats the best team contest you've ever run or been involved in?

I personally do not like team challenges as a rule (seems to turn my group off no matter how I promote it) but I do like to do the "25 show team challenge".

It was the one challenge that they got behind.

I think I'll introduce it again for the fall - we have several new consultants now. I will probably offer a pizza party or a Pamper Package (manicure and pedicure sets, soaps, candle) for everyone...

I am going to try the 10 show team because I have a LOT of hobbyists...which is fine, but I don't want them to think it is unattainable. Once we have that down for about 3-4 months, I'll move it to 15 shows. Anyone do something like this and be successful?

How successful do you think this would be (see above) for a mostly long distance team?

Can someone explain the 25 show team challenge?

From what I understand (which, of course, can be totally different that what everybody else thinks/does!).....you challenge your team to do a total of 25 shows as a team and then offer some incentive for those that participated.

I've got mostly hobbyists and we are spread over 3 states. I've had a really hard time getting them excited about anything!! :(

I'm excited about this site where all directors are condensed into one spot so I can get new ideas :) CS is fine but there have been times I've asked questions directed at directors and the thread fills with alot of other stuff and I never get the info I need.

You have described the 25 show challenge exactly. I would offer a pizza party to the whole team too but so many of mine live way too far to come and I don't think it would be fair - you do the parties and those who can come will benefit (my 2 most consistantly high sales consultants live long distance).

I also agree with you on your comments about this site vs CS. Love them both but this one will be a chance for us to REALLY help each other with our teams!

What do you offer for long distance consultants who participate in the challenge?

I offer the same incentive for everyone who participates in team priomotions or everyone who does ____ promotions. I used to do things (gifts I picked up, PC products, etc) but now I mostly do PC$$ or gift certificates for everyone. My basket picks during the meeting are "things" though.

just a quick note on the 25 show challenge-the first few months you do this, you will want to include yourself. This means count your own total shows held for about the first 3 months-this way, your team can see that they can achieve this and you will see everyone jumping on board!

I currently have a small team and all of my active Consultants are local. Since I really want our team to have an amazing fall selling season, I am thinking of doing something a little different.

$4,000 in sales is a stretch for any of my team members. I am seriously considering offering anyone who has a $4,000 sales month in September, a nice dinner out with me. We would probably go (still need to decide before announcing) a dinner at The Cheesecake Factory.

I decided on this restaurant because I learned from a Home Office training seminar that a special incentive should be about 1% of the results. This restaurant would fit in with the incentive. Also, the food and service are usually great.

Now I know this type of incentive is not meant for Hobbyist, but I really want to encourage my team to stretch themselves, because several of them want to grow their businesses. I know if they are in front of enough people to get that much in sales, they have a much better chance of recruiting.

Please share any thoughts you have on this.

Thanks!
Lisa

Good point! I did it this way when we did the challenge last time. I am thinking of doing it again this fall since we have a lot of new people on the team now.

I just set up an incentive for my group. I'm a new director, with a smaller group. They too want to grow, so I offered them an incentive for the # of shows they do in Sept. I picked different things such as a PC mug, tote bag, business card holder and duffle bag as the rewards. Then with the one who does the highest, I'm trying to come up with a top prize.

I did this 2 years ago- lost 20 pounds in 8 months. I still have kept it off. They had weekly classes and weighins which really helped. I found my body functions on a high protein-low fat/carb diet well. I had a lots of energy. Plus you eat 5 times a day which is important to me because my sugar levels can crash and then I'll eat anything. I also had to give myself permission to eat whatever I wanted as long as it was good for me and fell within the guidelines. That meant if I wanted raspberries at $4.99 or Tilapia at 6.99 so be it. Before it was so ironic that I wouldn't pay $5.99 for strawberries out of season because they were too expensive- but grabbed 3 candy bars at the check out counter because they were 3 for $.99! Duh!

Oooh....I've never thought of the price thing...I'll have to keep that in mind! :D

My other best tip was to allow myself to splurge guilt free. We live in a very socially active subdivision and there is a party at least once a week. So I made a deal with myself to be good til the party- eat and drink at the party, and then back to being good after. Even 1 party a week won't kill a weightloss plan. Bue people feel so guilty if they blow it that they just give up and keep eating long after a parties over.

it's actually good to do that with any "diet" ...I should say lifestyle change. It keeps your metabolism right. Most people call it a free day. But some accidently call it the free week or month or year...get my drift:rolleyes:
