what do you say to the folks who argue... why stoneware? ... you cant wash it with soap, you cant put it in the dishwasher... why would you add more aggrevation by buying a costly piece of stoneware that is hard to clean... I have completely glazed ceramic bakeware thats so easy to use & clean... blah, blah, blah

beside the normal montage of the benefits of using PC stoneware and the guarantee... what do you say to these people who seem to ruin it for others thinking of buying it?

because it is a healthier way of cooking - no need to fry - you get the same results using stoneware that you do by frying - but healthier for you and your family -

ever gone and seen a pizza taken out of an oven? hmmm - that is a big stone in those ovens - stoneware produces crispier crusts and is the viagra of day old pizza!!

Soap isn't what cleans a product - its hot water - we season our stones so the make their own natural non stick surface - no need for soap - clean up is a breeze and nothing sticks to it!

Try the stoneware - you aren't completely satisfied? Return in within 30 days and get your money back!

OMG, I would RATHER clean a stone than anything else!

I explain the cleaning process to my customers, I get questions at EVERY show...I simply tell them to think about those Dawn or Palmolive commercials where they have the soapy water, and they put the greasy dish in it, the grease comes rising to the top of the water, etc. and I tell them it is for getting GREASE and DEBRIS off your dishes, not to actually DISINFECT them. And I tell them about the hot water. I also tell them to just TRY it and if they aren't completely happy with it, they can call within 30 days and Fed Ex will come right to them and pick it up. I also offer to follow up w/ them 2 weeks after the product is delivered to check on them and see how they like it, if they've been using it, and if they have any questions. If you hold their hand while they make their first purchase, 9 times out of 10 they are happy with it. If all else fails, offer them the baking sheets!

How do you handle the one guest who recommends putting the stone in the self cleaning oven ( while self- cleaning), to get all the "build-up" off and get it sparkling white again?

I just pretend I did not hear that...

first off, remind them the more seasoned a stone is the better it bakes &
during a self cleaning cycle the oven locks & they could catch their kitchen on fire

You could just ask if anyone at the Show HAS Stoneware - if there is --- LET THEM SELL IT FOR YOU!

I run through all the points of Stoneware, but if I have a customer/guest who isn't a fan or is bucking the idea of Stoneware - then I say: "Well, then YOU would LOVE our SHEET PANS!!!!"

You could also include that PC is KNOWN for it's SUPERIOR Stoneware cuz of it's durability.

Stoneware ISN'T hard to clean (and explain the process to them - let it cool to room temp, use the scraper, wash with hot water, and let dry)

People never had a problem with the cleaning process of Cast Iron!

Unless its the round stone wit handles... then all bets are off....

just joking :p

Honestly ... you offer them something that is NOT a stone!

I have found that stoneware is a love it or hate it thing .... and if they don't want stoneware, than how about one of our sheet pans ... or silicone baking products ... or cake/muffin pans ... or the cookware that makes a pretty mean cake in the oven!

HAHA - that is funny :D

MY APPROACH is that I am honest and say that Stoneware IS a love/hate product for people - BUT a MAJORITY of my customers LOVE LOVE LOVE it and will use NOTHING ELSE!

I also ALWAYS give the example of the ALL DAY PAN (LBP) - THAT will usually sell people

Just tell them life isn't sparkly white and it all has its seasonings - that is what makes it fun and exciting - the stone ware it just like life - its lived and loved and had a blast doing it in - those that are white and clean - haven't lived at all! Make it funny and live - trust me - they will sit back in their seats - if not - dont argue - agree to disagree and that life can't please everyone!;)

More benefits of stoneware are it retains heat so your food stays hot longer, you will have to try very hard if you want to burn something on it, it cooks evenly so you don't need to worry about flipping things in the oven.

This is the reason I refuse to sell (or give) stoneware to my BIL...he washes his cast iron every time he uses it and then re-oils it! Why even bother?

In that case, I too steer them to the sheet pans...then everyone's happy!

Great idea, Dor! I never thought of it like that. Thanks for the tip!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Pampered Chef Stoneware and how does it work?

Pampered Chef Stoneware is a line of baking and cooking products made from natural clay that is fired at high temperatures. This process creates a porous surface that absorbs moisture, allowing for even heat distribution and superior cooking results. When preheated, stoneware retains heat, which helps to create crispy crusts and evenly cooked meals.

Is Pampered Chef Stoneware difficult to care for?

No, Pampered Chef Stoneware is easy to care for. It is designed to be seasoned before use, which helps create a non-stick surface over time. Cleaning is simple; just scrape off any food residue and rinse with warm water. Avoid using soap, as it can strip the seasoning. For tough stains, a baking soda paste can be used.

Can I use Pampered Chef Stoneware in the microwave?

Yes, Pampered Chef Stoneware is microwave-safe, making it versatile for various cooking methods. However, it is important to avoid sudden temperature changes, such as placing a hot stoneware piece directly into cold water, as this can cause cracking.

What are the benefits of using Pampered Chef Stoneware compared to metal bakeware?

Pampered Chef Stoneware offers several benefits over metal bakeware, including better heat retention and distribution, which leads to more evenly baked goods. Additionally, stoneware helps absorb moisture, resulting in crispier crusts and less soggy bottoms. It is also naturally non-stick when properly seasoned, reducing the need for excess oils or sprays.

How long does Pampered Chef Stoneware last?

With proper care and maintenance, Pampered Chef Stoneware can last for many years, even decades. Its durability and resistance to chipping or cracking make it a long-lasting investment for your kitchen. Many users report that their stoneware improves with age, developing a better non-stick surface over time.
