Difference Between Posting on Blog Vs E-Mail/Newsletter

SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the implications of posting Pampered Chef (PC) newsletters on blogs versus sending them via email. Participants clarify that sharing PC content on public blogs violates company policy, as blogs are accessible to everyone, unlike newsletters which are distributed privately. The consensus is that consultants should utilize their Pampered Chef Personal Website (PWS) for sharing updates and promotions, ensuring compliance with company guidelines. Would there be a problem posting our pc newsletter on a blog? Especially if we want our customers to keep up to date on specials, recipes, etc. Or refer back to them if need be. Our newsletters have a pc recipe on them so with all this trademark stuff it's really confusing.

Since a blog is online and you would be referring to yourself as with PC, I'm guessing it would violate policy. Those who know the details better will correct me if I'm wrong.

I think it is that the blog is available for everyone to see it on the internet where your newletter only goes to people you send it to & isn't able to be found by someone searching the internet.

No, you can't do that. You CAN have your personal website and post that information there. That's what I do. My newsletter really just is full of short descriptions and teasers so that they can go to my website for more info. Then they can check out the outlet while they are there too.

I thought we werent supposed to post our personal website on our blog.

We're not. No PWS, or even stating that we're a consultant. That's very clear in the policies.

This is why we have a PWS! Customers can find out about anything you want them to know from there. PC does all the workfor us as far as specials and theme shows not to mention recruiting promos. All it takes is a few clicks to update it every month.

from the policies manual... pg 24 "Internet/Web: Additional Guidelines

Ann That is exactly what I thought but the post above mine made it sound like you can post on blogs. And I just wanted to clear it up.

It seems pretty interesting that when you type Pampered Chef or anthing refering to PC other things come up, even posts on Chef Success come up. It kind of defeats the purpose of the policy if all outsiders can see things about PC and not go to the PC website.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the main differences between posting on a blog and sending an email/newsletter?

The main differences lie in the format and delivery method. Blog posts are typically longer, more detailed, and can include multimedia elements, while emails or newsletters are often shorter, more concise, and designed for direct communication. Blogs are publicly accessible, whereas emails are sent to a specific audience.

Which platform is better for engaging with my audience?

It depends on your goals. Blogs can attract a wider audience through search engines and social sharing, while emails and newsletters allow for personalized communication and direct engagement with your existing customers. Combining both can maximize engagement.

How often should I post on my blog compared to sending emails/newsletters?

Blogging frequency can vary, but a consistent schedule (like weekly or bi-weekly) is recommended to keep content fresh and engaging. Emails or newsletters can be sent more frequently, such as weekly or monthly, depending on your audience's preferences and the content you have to share.

Can I repurpose blog content for my email/newsletter?

Absolutely! Repurposing blog content for emails or newsletters is a great strategy. You can summarize the blog post, highlight key points, or include a link to the full article, which drives traffic to your blog while providing valuable content to your email subscribers.

What metrics should I track for blog posts versus emails/newsletters?

For blog posts, track metrics like page views, time on page, and social shares to gauge content effectiveness. For emails and newsletters, focus on open rates, click-through rates, and conversion rates to understand how well your messages resonate with your audience.
