I just wanted to thank whoever posted the recipe for the spice cake mix that used a can of pumpkin and 3 eggs. I just made it and it is wonderful!!! Very easy and I do not like pumpkin, normally. I made it in my mini fluted and put the totsie rolls and green icing and they are adorable. I am taking them to my show on Tues. and wanted to thank you for the great recipe. If you haven't tried it I suggest it!!

I bought a spice cake box from I think Duncan Heinz, put in one can of 15oz. pumpkin, and three eggs. I mixed it together, put into the mini-fluted stone and I baked it for 20mins. @ 350 F(until a toothpick comes out clean). I let it cool then fliped it over and let it cool completly. Then I melted the smaller tootsie rolls for about 9 secs. in the microwave over shaped them to look like stems and made little vines on the sides w/ green deco bottle icing. They are adorable and even look pumpking colored.
I have never seen a microwave that stone would fit into!

The recipe is in All the Best as well

Do ya'll think this would make a good cake for a pumpkin roll if i baked it in the large bar pan?

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use the same batter for a Pumpkin Spice Cake in a Pumpkin Roll?

While the batter for a Pumpkin Spice Cake can be used for a Pumpkin Roll, you may need to adjust the consistency slightly. Pumpkin Rolls typically require a thinner batter to allow for easy rolling. Consider adding a bit more liquid or reducing the flour to achieve the right texture.

What adjustments do I need to make for baking time when adapting a Pumpkin Spice Cake recipe for a Pumpkin Roll?

The baking time will likely be shorter for a Pumpkin Roll compared to a cake. Since the roll is typically baked in a thinner layer, check for doneness around 10-15 minutes earlier than the original cake recipe suggests. Keep an eye on it to prevent overbaking.

Can I add frosting to a Pumpkin Roll made from a Pumpkin Spice Cake recipe?

Yes, you can add frosting to a Pumpkin Roll! Cream cheese frosting is a popular choice that complements the flavors well. Just be sure to spread it evenly after the roll has cooled, and roll it up carefully to avoid tearing.

Will the flavor change if I adapt a Pumpkin Spice Cake recipe for a Pumpkin Roll?

The flavor should remain similar, but the texture may differ. A Pumpkin Roll tends to be lighter and fluffier due to the thinner batter. If you want to enhance the flavor, consider adding spices like cinnamon or nutmeg to the batter.

Is it difficult to roll the Pumpkin Roll made from a Pumpkin Spice Cake recipe?

Rolling the Pumpkin Roll can be tricky, especially if the cake is too thick or not baked properly. To make it easier, use parchment paper to lift the cake out of the pan and roll it while it’s still warm. This helps prevent cracking and makes it easier to handle.
