Amy, I know exactly what you mean by getting your rear in gear, and getting shows booked quickly. I had also lost my umpff, too! Anybody got a match to put under my rear, to get me fired up? How about cracking that whip!

I will make those calls! I will make those calls! I will make those calls!!

I'm right there with you Amy and Brenda! I need some shows on my schedule pronto! I only have one catty show going right now and one cooking show scheduled for April 3rd.

I have lots of bookkeeping work to get done but I will get my calls made as well!!

Bah! One of my April hosts just called to ask if she could switch her show to JULY! She has "spring fever" and has decided she wants to make it a deck/pool party. Well, fine then. At least it was one later in the month and not during free conf. reg. time!

I have been really bad about making phone calls this past week. My biggest problem is being consistent. When my schedule looks good - I slack off. I need to stop doing that. Who know what/who I might be missing.

Yes, I think I need to look for who I might be missing, too. Thanks for the push. I'm very bad about the phone lately.

Sorry for the reschedule, but that's a hard month to book, isn't it? Now you have a jump start.

got any cheese to go with my whine?  I'm drowning in the tears from my personal pity party tonight!
My one definite show for April just postponed until May! My attempted contacts tonight have resulted in just machines and no's

One positive, a catalog show closed today at over $500! :D Hate to admit this, but that is better than some of my latest live shows!

hope you guys are doing better. Tomorrow I am going looking for bookings ALL DAY LONG!!

I did get on the phone this afternoon, and reached 3 people, but 1 of those I had already talked to last week, and forgot! I usually write down comments on the contact sheet, but hadn't that time. The other two did not have any significant results. Picked up an e-mail address. One of them said "not right now" about hosting, so I got permission to call back in June. I wanted to make more calls this evening, but my neighbor came over, and we potted some trees that I got from the wedding I attended last week, so that cut right into my phone time. :o

Made my contacts. No results. Got the check from the order the other night, though. :)

Just thought I would cross-post from another thread about my show tonight. It was pretty crazy - and I had a show last week that was crazier yet - so it's in reference to that.....Well, it wasn't like last weeks show - it was still total chaos....only this time, alot of the conversations were in Italian, so I had no idea if they were talking about the product, or just talking! They were talking about the product at least some of the time. I did the Greek Torta ahead, and had the host give me her ingredients in trade....she was still really wanting a dessert - but not chocolate, since several of the guests had given it up for Lent - so we settled on the Pina Colada Cake....WOW! what a hit that was! I'm glad I decided to do it. Even in Italian, I could tell they were impressed! Ooohhhs and Ahhhhs translate very well!
There were about 20 people there, but only about 8 ordered (again) but this time, several of them actually told me they were going to call the host tomorrow with their order. I think some of them needed to take longer - because English is a 2nd language - so that is fine. I have one booking for April - but was told that they tend to do it that way, to spread the love - they were already planning who would book from the April Show, and then from the next....etc.....
So right now at $300 in sales (but I see that going much higher) and one booking - but it sounds like I'm IN with this group! (and I replaced the April booking that I lost yesterday!)The host chatted with me for a while after the show about the opportunity - but she has been badly burned by an experience with the pink cadillac gals, so is hesitant about PC....I think she may come around though! So, it was a fun night - and everyone had a good time - and I got a bunch of drawing slips turned in this time! (the show from last week - only one!)

Oh, to pot some trees....Ground is still frozen with snow on top.:)

The only "live" contact I had today was with a past host that showed interest in a spring show. She got back to me today to tell me that she is in the middle of a huge kitchen remodel but would call me "down the road" when they started cooking again. *sigh*

how many of you are hearing the economy woes? I can tell my sales are taking a hit, but the bookings were great. Now, it seems even bookings are getting harder to come by.

I am amazed that I am not hearing it as much as I thought I would be. I agree, my sales per customer are lower, but my shows are still well attended, and I'm getting bookings.
I do make sure that I focus on products that will help and be used in their kitchens every day. I don't bother with SA anymore, as much as I love it. It just isn't selling right now. I'm also selling alot more open stock cookware at half off, instead of the sets. I sell the DCB to many people as a half off choice too.

It's funny, Amy - because for me, I think what is most hit by the economy is recruiting. People are looking for more income and more of a weekly paycheck with benefits, if they are looking for a job, and they don't want to shell out the money to start. I've had several people ask if they could get the kit, and have PC deduct the money from their first paychecks.....

Well I went from $3000-$6000 months Sept-Dec, and about $2500 in December to practically nothing now. At first it was the "Christmas debt" excuse and now it's the "still no money" thing. I can't even get the bookings now. MOST of the reason (coming from the potential host's mouth) is that all her their friends are broke or have no $ to spend on PC now. I can totally relate b/c all my friends are in the same boat.

I can totally relate with this. I have had a few leads end up signing with PL because they don't need any $ up front for that. I paid for my last recruits kit (she will pay me back with her commission). I ONLY did that b/c I know her pretty well and am confident there wont be a problem. I guess it also depends what part of the country you're in too.

On a positive note, I just got off the phone with my new consultant - she has a quick start kit, and will be signing her actual on-line agreement Monday, the 24th. She has 5 shows booked for April and is sooo excited to get started! She has already passed out her host packets for all of her shows, and is also planning a show of her own! (she wants the collapsible bowl for $10, and is planning on the Salad Spinner for free. ) 2 more, and I'm a director! I have 4 in my downline, but 1 was a recruits recruit, so she doesn't count for promoting....I like to think of her as my cushion when I do promote!:D

I agree. My last 4 shows have been $1000 or over. I am having a real hard time with bookings right now though. Nobody is mentioning no money, they are just saying no. Funny, people seem to have no problem saying no to me, without even giving a reason.

Total side-note: Good news. My new director (old one lost her directorship and I rolled up to my ED) and I are starting coaching tomorrow morning. I am so excited. I really hope this will be the shot I need to get my biz really going. We are going to focus on me getting to Directorship, but also on bookings. (I really need the bookings before I can get to the recruiting as I only have one show on the books right now!)

Sarah, how exciting for you to have your ED coaching you! YEA!

Made 2 contacts yesterday, which resulted in the need for an adjustment for 1 customer, and sending some rice cooker recipes to another. Only had the ambition to make enough calls to reach 1 contact today. I have to call that person back on Saturday, so that she can look at her schedule, for a possible April show.

contacts yesterday included running into a recruit lead at the grocery store, still working on her! No bookings...

today, I did get a random order. No bookings

me thinks I'm gonna have to host my own show the first week in April to try and turn this bus around! I need bookings!!

I'm thinking I am going to have to do one in May....April looks great, and June is looking great too, with bookings now in every month through Oct - but for May, I have 1 solid booking, and 1 who says she wants May, but hasn't given me a date yet.

The thing is - I am within 3000 points of Level One, and I want to keep on track for at least Level Two - so I need to stay consistent in my monthly sales....I don't want May to be the reason I don't earn a trip!

I always have a hard time booking May, and I can't figure out why - I am personally very passionate about HWC - and always talk it up at my shows...but no one wants to book for that month. And if you have a month with no bookings ~ down the road that hurts other bookings too.

I sent out two letters with HWC info flyers to people I know are passionate about cancer research and such. I just thought of someone else to whom I'll send info. I told them to think about it and that I'd call them soon. I really wrote up the 25% thing. I didn't realize it could be that high for this fundraiser until I finally received my CN yesterday. It referred to info online.

I only got ahold of ONE live person (the rest machines AGAIN) but it resulted in a much needed booking for April 14th! YAY!

wish me luckYea! I got my binder in order with all of my past hosts, guests and possibilities (people who I haven't called yet at all) and have scheduled 3 hours next week (definite could turn into 5) to make calls. I am going to call the past guests that showed some interest but haven't hosted shows yet, and then the people who I haven't contacted at all. Hopefully this turns into something! I only have one upcoming show *in JUNE* and I am hoping to hold a show for my neighbors myself in April. I will then follow up with past guests about products they ordered yada yada yada. I have been really bad with follow up with out of the box calls. I hope late is better than never. I will post on Monday,Wed and Thursday after my calls. Monday might be hard b/c I am calling in the morning. If anyone has a script they could lend me for an answering machine I would appreciate it. Other wise I can use the customer care script and my 'I'm a new consultant'. I just need to stay focused and maintain a schedule with this. On top of working part time at the bank and managing the kids and hubbies shift work it is hard to get the call time in. Which I know is the most important. Sorry to rant.

Thanks :)

If you consistently make your 3 contacts - it will happen! Good job for getting started!

I think the CCC script is great to use!

YEA Ellen! One live person is better than all machines, isn't it? Sometimes I think that if I could just actually talk to someone.....

And sometimes I get so used to machines that when someone does pick up the phone, I'm almost speechless for a minute!

I also talked to 1 live person yesterday. "Now is not a good time" for her to host a party, so she told me to call back in the fall. The story of my life (call back in late spring, or now fall!) Other than that, I got a few machines as well.

my tax lady asked for a catalog yesterday, so DH was a doll and had one to give her!
still trying to get my lone hot recruit lead to sign. she said she would do it last night online, but as of this morning, NOTHING

we'll see about today, it's hard since it's a holiday weekend

I signed on for a full-time temp job at the temp office for this week and the next several weeks, so I'll mostly be playing catch-up. I've been good about my contacts, though.Monday: 3 contacts, with 1 catalog request
Tuesday: show with 14 guests and 2 bookings
Wednesday: 3 contacts resulting in 2 orders
Thursday: 3 contacts resulting in 3 possible bridal showers*
Friday: 1 contact*I loved my Thursday contacts. I was at the grocery. I said hello to a woman who was entering as I did. Once we were inside, I turned to her and said, "You look really familiar. Why do you look so familiar to me? I'm Rae Bates. I'm a PC consultant."She touched my arm and said, "I'm Jackie Weaver's sister." Jackie's a good friend. We chatted a bit. This woman's son and daughter are both getting married within the next year. Family and friends are spread out across the country. I told her I wouldn't feel like I was doing my job if I didn't let her know about the PC wedding registry and PC showers. I explained. She's letting her "kids" know. :)Later, I was at Wal-Mart. A worker let out a big sigh as she was looking at pens. I said, "Man, that's a big sigh to give a bunch of pens."She started talking about too many choices and rising prices. I told her I was a PC consultant, and I use bags of the cheap pens. They work well. She asked what PC was. Turns out she's getting married in a few months. Tada! Possible shower.

Great job Rae! Those Thursday contacts were great! A true testament to not be afraid to let people know about your business!

Yeah, the one thing I'm not is afraid to talk to people. I won't say I've never missed an opportunity, but I try not to let too many pass me by. :)
