I'm curious...anyone have an opinion on the optimal day of the week to send out a newsletter for best responses?
Thanks ~ Marey in Michigan:chef:

I have always heard that the best day is Tuesday. Especially if you have a lot of people who have it sent to their work. Mondays people are so busy and trying to catch up from the weekend.

I never send on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday because then the email piles up in the inbox over the weekend and on Monday I might just get deleted in the "clear the inbox" effort.

That's exactly what I've read as well. I usually schedule mine to go out mid-morning (9:30-10 am) on Tuesday mornings. If I miss that, I aim for Wednesdays or Thursdays.

If your contact list has alot of work e-mail addresses, then I agree not to send it too close to the weekend, or on Monday. If you have mostly personal e-mail addys, though, I suggest sending on Thursday evening or Friday. This way people have the weekend to leisurely read the newsletter, and it's sitting towards the top of their inbox, so it will catch their eye quicker.

I try to do mine on tues. For the exact reasons stated above. :)

Thanks for the post. I actually haven't put to much thought in to when to send it. I will now. Makes sense :-)

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best day of the week to send a newsletter for direct sales?

The best day to send a newsletter often depends on your target audience, but many experts suggest mid-week days like Tuesday or Wednesday. These days typically see higher open rates as people are settled into their week but not yet distracted by the upcoming weekend.

Should I consider the time of day when sending a newsletter?

Yes, the time of day can significantly impact your newsletter's performance. Sending your newsletter in the late morning or early afternoon tends to yield better results, as people are more likely to check their emails during breaks or after completing their morning tasks.

Does the type of content affect the best day to send a newsletter?

Absolutely! If your newsletter contains time-sensitive promotions or events, consider sending it earlier in the week to give your audience ample time to respond. Conversely, if it’s more informational, mid-week may still be effective.

How can I determine the best day for my specific audience?

The best way to determine the ideal day for your audience is to test different days and analyze the open and click-through rates. A/B testing can help you identify patterns and preferences specific to your subscribers.

Are there any days I should avoid sending newsletters?

Generally, it’s best to avoid sending newsletters on weekends or Mondays. Many people are busy catching up on work or personal tasks on Mondays, and weekends may see lower engagement as people are often away from their emails.
