I've never made this before and my host for tomorrow liked the sound of it when we were talking about it. I normally don't do this but it seems so simple. Any tips? I take it the lid stays off and I know from reading here before to use only 1/2 a tub of icing and make sure the plate had a lip on it!

I actually do it with the lid on but you definately need a plate with a lip on it!

Can you do this in the deep covered baker and not turn it out but serve it with a large spoon?

I leave lid on -- when it is done, the lid normally comes off separately. Also - I flip on the dots dinner plate. Works great.

I'm already doing the Family Burrito Bake in the DCB.

Does the clear piece stay on? Or just the lid?

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the basic ingredients needed to bake a cake for the first time?

To bake a basic cake, you'll need flour, sugar, eggs, butter, baking powder, and milk. These ingredients create the foundation of most cake recipes. You can also add vanilla extract for flavor and a pinch of salt to enhance the taste.

How do I ensure my cake rises properly?

To ensure your cake rises properly, make sure to use fresh baking powder and follow the recipe's measurements accurately. Preheat your oven to the correct temperature before placing the cake in, and avoid opening the oven door too early, as this can cause the cake to collapse.

What type of pan should I use for baking a cake?

For baking a cake, a round or square cake pan is typically used. Make sure to choose a pan that is the right size for your recipe. Grease the pan with butter or cooking spray and consider lining the bottom with parchment paper to prevent sticking.

How can I tell when my cake is done baking?

You can tell your cake is done by inserting a toothpick or a cake tester into the center. If it comes out clean or with a few crumbs attached, the cake is ready. Additionally, the edges should start to pull away from the sides of the pan, and the top should spring back when lightly pressed.

What are some common mistakes to avoid when baking a cake for the first time?

Common mistakes to avoid include not measuring ingredients accurately, opening the oven door too frequently, and not allowing the cake to cool properly before removing it from the pan. Also, be cautious about overmixing the batter, as this can lead to a dense cake.
