I signed up for it, but may not end up going ... my clustermates seem to think it's a waste of time ...

I am going. It lasts a half hour and I have never been to NC before. I am Wave 1 and have scheduled the noon orientation. Maybe I will see you there!

Right now I have 9 a.m. picked ... but I don't know. A lot depends on what the rest of my cluster is doing.

I'm going to do it too. I'm in wave 1 but haven't registered yet.

i am going because i want to get the full effect of NC plus i want to make my own decision if it is going to be worth it or not for future reference for if i become a director

There isn't anything else to do besides sleep, so why not? :) I plan to get the most I can from NC. Hope to see you there!

I can't imagine why anyone would let smoeone else's negativity affect their business. This is the first year they have offered a First Timer's Orientation so what are your clustermates basing their opinion on? Why would you let their ignorance possibly have a negative affect on your business?

This is your business, do what you want to do. Last year was my first year and they didn't offer anything like this. I would have loved to attend if they had!

And they know this for sure because of what?

Honestly, I have learned that PC does not offer anything that is a waste of time. Every thing they do and offer is with us and our business in mind. I would have loved to have gone to a first-timer's orientation the first time I went to NC. I would go if I were you. (and HO always gives out goodies, so you never know if they'll be doling our something special at orientation too...) Leave the Ba-Humbugs behind and have fun!

Actually, I think they thought it would take away from a workshop session. If it did, there is no way I would attend! The person who told me this assured us that they would show us the ropes ...My cluster is kind of "in transition" at the moment ... so I don't know what they have planned between conference sessions ....but one of my roomates is also a first time conference attendee, so I may drag her along.

I did it last year and its worth it! Don't listen to anyone else, its YOUR BUSINESS!

I did it last year...
How? I thought this was the first time they were doing it?

Even though HO was being restructured we still were able to get the orientation tour. You get to see Doris and Jean's offices, the history of PC, and the ticket booth to win products. It was wonderful!

And if we are talking about 2 different things then, HOW COULD YOUR CLUSTER tell you its a waste of time if they never experienced it?? Beats the heck outta me! JUST DO IT!

I'm not talking about the home office tour, which all of us are taking on the last day. I'm talking about the first-timer's orientation.I'm having a hard time picturing myself walking to a conference hotel all by myself ... hoping I get on the right shuttle ... and making my way to Palamer long before my cluster-mates show up ... good thing I have a cel phone or I'd totally be Little Girl Lost in the Big City!

PC has everything so well organized - there is virtually no way to get on the wrong shuttle, and the shuttles drop you off at the door of your hotel. It's actually very easy to navigate! Plus, you can follow hundreds of other consultants going in the same direction!

Uh yeah, been told that myself and when we got to conference she didn't even know where to go. I ended up showing her the ropes and it was my first time!!!!The orientation is new, and I bet it will give you a lot of information about what to do and how to get around.I'd personally go for it and if others don't, their loss!!!!
Besides, that person does not work at HO so how can they possibly know what HO has planned for us this year!!!! They try to make it exciting and improved each year, not the same old stuff!

This is different than the HO tour, it's just something to help prepare yourself for the 3 days worth of information overload!

Don't worry about "going by yourself". There will be other consultants doing the same thing!

But very few coming from the Courtyard at Mariott ... I THINK I'll be able to make my way to the Sheraton by then!

Are you coming in on the 9th or 10th? Either way, by then I'm sure you will have found at least one PC consultant that can direct you or show you the way. Just listen for the 100+ chatting women wandering & you'll find at least one bus, probably more! :D

There is no way you will get lost. The areas around the hotels and McCormick place is OVER RUN with PC consultants. I personally do not hang around much with my cluster at conference. I see them every month! Conference for me is about learning and networking.

Sounds like this person wants to "feel" like she is in charge. She is acting like she can "show you the ropes" about something she knows NOTHING about. They have never offered a First Timer's Orientation in all the years I have been to conference - so how can she show you the ropes about something new??? I'd drop her like a hot potato and go into this planning to BUILD YOUR BUSINESS. The Orientation is NOT in place of a workshop.

PS...if I am sounding pissy, I apologize. I am PMS'ing and it seems everything that comes out of my mouth or keyboard this week is *****y so I apologize. Please pass the chocolate...

You're talking about two different things - VW, you're talking about the Home Office tour - totally different than the First Timer's Orientation.

Closer to, I hope I'll remember to share the cel phone number ....I just baked a mess of truffle brownies ... but darn, just dropped them off at the local real estate office ... would you settle for some virtual ones.and the person who told me this IS in charge ... of a lot ... a couple months ago I heard her say she had like 86 consultants in her first line and I think with the most recent transition, she's above 100 ... meanwhile, it's going to be a bit surreal for my clustermates being at NC without our ex director ... so I don't want to leave them high and dry ...too much!

PM me your cell, hotel info & e-mail & I'll make sure you get added to the list. Then we can call & check on you! :D

I am going to first timers orientation at 9am as well:D We can sit together and be lost together. I am the only one from my cluster who is going for the first time and everyone else is a director. I am hoping to hook up with some of you so I don't feel alone. I know my other cluster mates have "director" stuff to do, so I don't think I will see them much except at the hotel room and banquet.
I am hoping my DH will let me get my own cell phone before I go. He has "our" cell phone, but he needs it for work while I am gone.

Well, numbers don't mean anything - with 86-100 consultants in her first line how the heck can she show you the ropes. She does not dictate what you do or take...YOU are paying for conference and YOU own your own business. She should support you in whatever you choose, THAT is her job. Besides, she should want you to do what is best for you - after all she gets a cut of it!

Go to the orientation, go to what you want to for your business and remember, this is your business.

As pissy as Carolyn may be while PMSing, she has valid points. I am in the first line of an ED and will see her there but you can bet she doesn't have time for me...that's what our cluster meetings are for! Conference is all about networking and doing things that we do on this board.

You don't have to leave your cluster high and dry, but don't feel obligated to spend all your time with them either.

Nope ... believe me ... I am also planning to meet up with some online friends from my other message board one night that week!Oh ... and a fraction of the 86-100 consultants are actually going ... Probably about 10-12 of us ... and that includes four members of our "sub-cluster" who really don't know the members of the larger group. Leslie ... I will see you some time ... at least get a Go Phone!
