I am 19 and I am going to order my starter kit in the next month. Have any of you run into people not thinking that you are credible enough? I just hope my age doesnt conflict with my business. I work in a professioanl atmosphere in my full time job and hae not run into this AT ALL thankfully. I just hope it doesnt happen in PC.
Also, for all the young ones, do you have an advice for me starting out?
Thank you so much!

Hey saramarie,
I've not had the problem of people not thinking I'm credible enough. i started in this business when I was 18 and I've been in for 16 months now and wouldn't trade it for anyone. I have three recruits under me which are all a lot older then me, but I don't think it has affected me at all.

Just don't let people run all over you, and if you are already in a professional atmostphere I think it should make things just that much better.

If you want to chat, e-mail me....

Also, gilliandanielle on here is young too, so you may want to talk with her. She's been in the bus. a little longer than I have.

Hey guys! I don't like being in the "older" category as I am ALMOST 21 and a half!! LOL Technically I am not under 21, but I think that Tiff and I are the only ones on here that don't remember the 80's!! I am about to celebrate my second anniversary with The Pampered Chef and I am loving it more than ever. You are already a step above other consultants by being a part of this site!

Most consultants find shows through friends and co-workers. All my friends are in college or live with their parents and their budgets don't allow for PC. I have to be extra vigilant finding shows and asking everyone. I also do a lot of catty-dropping at businesses to find new customers and shows. I also recommend doing a newsletter (I love Tasty Tidbits www.tastytidbits.net) It is $12 for 6 months and really professionally designed. That adds to your credibility. If you act professionally, you will be seen as a professional.

It gets a little weird when I do shows for people that changed my diapers, but you get over it. I just think ahead to the future and I will only be 44 when I celebrate my 25th anniversary as a consultant!!

Hey, I guess I'm an old lady here (26). I started when I was 22, and the best thing that I have heard is 'fake it till you make it'. And just USE your products so you are familiar with them, read the product information guide, & read the posts on this site. Go to your director's meetings, they are very helpful. And if you do have doubts, tell your director and they will guide you through them. Present your self in a professional manner, know your products, and HAVE FUN, and if all those things happen, your guests will care less how old you are!:)
BTW, welcome to PC--it's the best!

OMG Lacy....26! Get off this thread you ancient thing! LOL just kidding! My hubby is pushing thirty, and all our friends graduated high school when I was in 5th grade. Most people think I am older just because all our couple friends are older too, but I still look 14 :(

About Lacy's tip to actually use your products, people love to hear real tips and real things that happened with products to know you are experienced. I tell people at every show about how my batter bowl fell 3 feet onto the floor without a scratch, and my simple additions did the same thing in that god-forsaken old style three-tier stand! Use them, love them, and it will show to your customers!

I am 31 and look under 20 or so. I am short in stature and I think that is why people think I am younger. So far I haven't gotten any gruff from PC but boy do I get it in my FT job. I work with the public and man people can be mean. If anybody gives you talk about being young you can say at least I am running my own business and that has to say something. Just my two cents.

Most people aren't mean to me because I know my stuff. If someone asks me something and I blow it off like I don't care and act immaturely, then they will see my age. If I am professional and know about my products or tell them I will find out ASAP they see me more as a peer.

I went to a Beauty Control party and the consultant was 18. She was wearing ripped jeans and WAY too much makeup. She totally talked like a Valley girl if you, like, totally know what I mean. Then when my payment processed my bank statement said it was to "sexy_chica_420" SO PROFESSIONAL!! If you act like this then people will see you as 19. If you act like you belong, then you will been seen as so.

Old Lady?Ok now you guys are making me feel old. I am 34. I will be celebrating my 1 year anniversary in September! Yeah! I still get carded constantly! LOL!!! That used to bother me but now it makes me feel better!:D

I just signed up for Tasty Tidbits and put your name as the referral. Thanks!

Thanks Kristin! You WON'T be dissapointed! My customers love the newsletter (I e-mail some and mail some depending on cutomer's preference) and I love that they get a monthly reminder of PC and all it has to offer!

Hey everyone! I'm only 20 and haven't had any problems with my age... :-)
