I was washing clothes and pulled out a reciept out of my pants pocket with ads for local businesse on the back. It has a number to call to advertise that way, but does anyone think that would be worth it?? I live in an area where there are only two "big" grocery stores, and the one I got the reciept from almost EVERYONE goes to. I am scared to call and check prices because it has to be expensive, plus I hardly ever look at the ads! Let me know your feedback or if you have had experience with this type of thing!

Sounds like it's at least looking in to! Maybe you could contact a couple businesses that are on your receipt & see if they'll tell you how much response they get from the ads? Let us know how it works out for you if you do it!:)

Call and at least find out how much it costs - it may be worth it!

That wouldn't break any PC rules right? I know we can advertise in newspapers, but is this the same thing?? I will probably call later today and find out rates.

Hey, I think that is a good idea. I used to cut the Subway coupons off the back of mine. I wonder how much it does cost. Maybe put a coupon for spend $60, get a free gift (whatever the special is that month), plus free shipping. Almost all my hosts have their orders shipped to my house, so it's easy for me to add outside orders onto shows.

NO! NO!! Don't Do It!Please learn from my experience! I paid $500 to advertise for 2 months at 2 different stores (a chain in our area). I got 2 referrals for that, and neither one hosted a show! Not Worth It!

The only way to tell for sure, is to call the vendors on the back and ask how the ad campaign has gone for them. If every other spot on the back of a receipt is "YOUR AD HERE" - that's a signal that others aren't buying the service.

I have subsequently advertised in a local flyer, and that was much better - about the same expense, got 8 sales out of it, with 2 shows, one of them was over 500 in sales, with some bookings - so that is a bit more worthwile. Call the other vendors and ask!

Thanks for the warning!!

Hmm, I just figured that they saved those spaces for themselves so you would know how to contact them no matter how short your reciept was. I think some people are pretty successful with it, but if it is $500 for two months that is out of my price range!! There is a chiropractor that has advertised for over three years on the back, so it has to have some affect! Do you really think if I called they office they would tell me? I actually know the doctor very well, well enough to know that he would have no idea he even advertises there!

Geez ScottThat's a lot of money for nothin. I went shopping the other day at our local "big name" grocery store and low and behold, there were basicaly only three ads on the back of the receipt. One for Subway, one for Cousins and one that read "Advertise here". Thank you so much for the insight Scott. It could have been a major mistake for the rest of us.
Although I knew that it might be a major risk when I heard the idea. I never looked at the back before. I shop, I go home, I file the reciept for tax season. Never really thought to look behind it!

I am torn now because my chiropractor friend who advertises there said that his business has boomed the last few years, but they don;t track how they get patients at his office. My area is the fastest growing area in the state, so I don't know if he is busier because of his advertising (that is the only place he advertises) or just because 25 families move here everyday.
