Will Hot Temperatures Damage Car Decals on the Rear Windshield?

Click For Summary
There is a discussion about finding a reasonably priced car decal, with a focus on potential options for placement that avoid insurance issues related to permanence. A cooking show host's husband, who specializes in car decals, may provide options for the poster. Concerns are raised about applying decals on rear windshields due to defrost coils that could damage the decal in extreme temperatures. Some participants confirm that decals can be placed on the outside of rear windows, but there are worries about the durability of decals under heat conditions.

I am looking for a car decal for a reasonable price. If anyone has one for sale please PM me. Thanx!! :D

Actually I'm doing a cooking show for a host who's husband does car decals. He was just asking me tonight if I ever thought about putting one on my car. I told him I can't have anything permanent due to insurance, etc. He is going to talk to me when I do her show. I'll have to see what he offers and if it is something others could order.

That'd be great. Thanx

I can't put anything on my back window like yours Kelly because I have the defrost coils running through the glass to melt ice and snow.
I am wanting to get something to put on the two rear windows , but I haven't found anything yet that I like.

You can still put them on the rear windshield. The ones in the pic are on the outside of the glass.

I know, but if it is hot enough to melt the ice and snow, won't it make the decal crack and peel??

Frequently Asked Questions

Will hot temperatures damage car decals on the rear windshield?

Yes, hot temperatures can potentially damage car decals. Prolonged exposure to high heat can cause the adhesive to weaken, leading to peeling or bubbling of the decal.

What temperatures are considered too hot for car decals?

Generally, temperatures above 100°F (38°C) can be harmful to car decals, especially if the vehicle is parked in direct sunlight for extended periods. It's best to avoid exposing decals to extreme heat whenever possible.

How can I protect my car decals from heat damage?

To protect your car decals from heat damage, try to park in shaded areas or use a car cover. Additionally, applying a UV protectant can help shield the decals from harmful sun exposure.

Are there specific types of decals that are more resistant to heat?

Yes, some decals are specifically designed to be heat-resistant. Vinyl decals, for example, tend to hold up better under high temperatures compared to paper-based decals. Always check the manufacturer's specifications for heat resistance.

What should I do if my car decal gets damaged from heat?

If your car decal is damaged due to heat, you may need to replace it. Carefully remove the damaged decal and clean the surface before applying a new one. If you're unsure, consider consulting a professional for assistance.
