Click For Summary
A team is preparing for an upcoming conference, discussing hotel arrangements and workshop registrations. There is excitement among members about attending and sharing accommodations, with several expressing disappointment over the absence of a traditional career club lunch. Participants are coordinating their hotel bookings, with many opting for various hotels, including the Hilton and Congress Plaza, to accommodate their needs. Challenges with online registration for both the conference and hotel reservations are highlighted, as some attendees experience technical issues. Additionally, personal challenges arise, including a member dealing with insurance issues related to a car accident, showcasing the stress of managing both personal and professional obligations. Overall, the thread reflects a mix of anticipation for the conference and the logistical hurdles attendees face.
I have to leave to take my daughter to school... guess she will be late today :(

one of my consultant's just emailed me and said she called HO and they said it will be up later in the day. Don't you think it should be up at something like 6 am CT??? that would stagger out the registration between the east and west coasts

No... that's exactly the reason they put it up later in the day... because the east-coasters would get on and get the hotels/workshops first and then by the time the west-coasters got on they felt they didn't have a fair chance. This way (even though it doesn't make 100% sense) everyone gets on at the same time. Not sure how APO's work it out!!!!!

Did anyone do hotel reservations ONLINE last year? work well?

well I for one would be up at whatever time they told me it would be opened and be registering! this waiting is dumb. jsut pick a time and let the cards fall.

I did and it wass very smooth. This year I'm doing a non-conference hotel though. We'll see how that works out...

Lucky! I can't get through!!!!! :grumpy:

got thru, too!

Went to register for the classes and it doesn't show that I earned it free from last year's incentive level 1 though.....

i called the phone number at 7:58 and waited on hold and got picked up right away.Got what I wanted... now the pressure is off

Done! :D :D

I just got off the phone with registration. If you earned level one of the trip incentive last year that option is not yet showing and they are working on it. She said we need to wait to register if that is our payment option.

that stinks - seems to me as if they've had months to get that worked out... afterall, how hard is it to add another option to the payment screen? Verification doesn't have to happen as you register, that could happen in the background then deal one on one with those issues.

I guess HO is saying to try back later in the day to register....I think I will just take my chances and have them owe me money.

Really? I mean it's a software program....the IT people should be reprimanded -- it's one thing after another with them. Who is in charge?

Oh, they fixed it....nevermind. :blushing:

How did you get Congress for $97 per night? How many in your room?

i also have the 2/2 at Chicago Hilton!!! YAY!:D

For those staying at a Conference Hotel, what was your credit card charged? I just want to make sure it was done correctly. I was charged for one night (including tax). The Hilton (2b-1ba) was $204 and change. It that right?

I reserved the room through expedia.com. 2 in my room (me & my mom) - 1 double bed.

anyone able to go online to view/change your reservation? I made one and it isn't finding it, I didn't get an email either. But I did put my card info in.
The first time I did it, the total total was double, so I hit cancel. Went back in and did it and got Conf. #'s and now I try to log into it and it isn't coming up. UGH!!

That is correct.

I went right to the hotel and got their online price of $104 for 2 in the room with 2 double beds. Sounds close enough not to worry. It's $20 more for each additional person so if we end up getting one or two more people our total cost will be less than the conference hotels and if not we aren't stuck with paying so much more. I also really liked that I can cancel up to 24 hours before so if someone else was stuck with empty spots at the Hilton we could help them out by moving there. KWIM? ..oh, and they only charged me $120 vs $200+ to hold the room.

Sounds good Beth. Through expedia I paid for the entire thing up front... and honestly, I'm relieved that the conf registration (including my mom's) and hotel will be all paid for once we get there. Plus their parking is cheap ($33/night).

Actually if you park yourself it's $28 with free in and out (which I never would use anyway - I dread driving in Chicago). I like the self parking because then I can get to my car if I need to. With checkin being later I can leave my things there and get them after the events on Monday and load the car before going to McCormick on Thursday.

Thanks Beth --- good to know! When I called today she told me it was $33 but then I realize that must be for the valet... she didn't give me a quote for self parking. :)

I'm on the wait list for the 2/2 at the Hilton. That was the only hotel still available online.
