Hi everyone~

I decided that it's time to upgrade to a laptop and I need to know if anyone knows of a good place to sell a used desktop. I bought it from Dell in May of this year and it's a very good computer. It's got a flat screen, wireless keyboard and mouse. It's got Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook already on it. I paid around $830 for it but willing to sell for less than that since it is used. If anyone knows of a great place to sell, or if any cheffers are interested, please let me know and we can work out the details.

Here are the details on the computer

Dimension E310 Series, Intel Pentium 4 Processor 630 with HT Technology (3GHz) and 2MB cache

512MB DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz

15 in (15 in viewable) E156FP Flat Panel Display

80GB SATA II Hard Drive (7200RPM)

Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, English without Media, for Dimension

Windows Media Player 10

16X DVD-ROM and 16X DVD+/-RW

I'm not sure they have it, but have you looked into trading it into Dell?

Never thought of that... I'll have to try that

Make sure you run a reformat utility to completely erase your personal information from the hard drive. just deleting the files only erases the entries from the "table of contents" and anyone with a data restore utility can recreate the files. I'd hate for you to be victimized.

i'll have to ask my computer lady how to do that after I clear all of my files off. Also, I'll have to figure out how to transfer everything from my desktop to my new laptop for PP. I like to "think" that i know about computers, but when it comes to that stuff, I sure don't!!!

Have you tried Craigslist?

no, what is that?

Craigslist is a collection of online classifieds, organized by geographic region. You can find some good deals there.
Or sell something. :)

Hello Amanda

Thanks for your response however,i read through your message and the content were been undrstood,I am fully okay and satisfied with the condition of the item i therefore request you to send me your full name and address where you want the payment(Your Money) to be posted to and contact email addressso that you can be reach in time .And letting you know,my mode of paying will be via my Alertpay account which is the only way i pay out now cause of my past experience. i am trying to play safe from scammers out here.it is easier, fastiest and a reliable way to recieve money within the United States Of America and it is securable.

Meanwhile, after i have forwaded your payment address which you emailled to me to Alertpay with the amount am paying you for the item, then the payment will commence fast and immediately by Alertpay and after the payment had been approved by Alertpay, a confirmation will be sent to you via their email address and after the confirmation has been sent to you then the shippment will be arranged via my fedex account.

Reply back if you are satisfied with the mode of my payment so that i can proceed by sending you a fedex prepaid slips which i have paid for and there will be no shipping cost for you to pay. So get back to me on time with your full payment address so i can order Alertpay to arrange payment immediately.I am offering you $530 for this item.

Thanks...and hope to hear back from you soon.

Best Regard
Scott

I just looked at the site, and it looks good. I would sign up to be a member, and then he can complete a "Member to Member Transfer" ...and would need only your email address. And you can just ask for additional money to be transferred to cover the shipping instead of doing his pre-paid thing....that way he wouldn't need your full name or address!! Just a thought...

I just looked at the site too, and it shows that the monthly receiveing limit is $400., I'm selling the computer for $500, so I wonder how that works. I wrote him back and said that I would accept cash or paypal. I already have an account through them. I did a google search on payalert and found a bunch of negative stuff about them. I think I'll shy away from that one.

Good catch! I do like paypal, and that is probably your best bet!

Maybe it's just me, but I don't trust anyone who sends written communication with so many capitalization, punctuation and grammar errors.

We've seen a lot of scam emails and that DEFINATELY fits the bill. It's worded almost exactly like those "Would you help us out by accepting 40,000 dollars transferred into your bank account" scams. I always google to see what info I come up with. There are tons of companies that look good right now because they changed their names, but if you look hard you'll find out why and when they changed their names and how many times. I wouldn't go with anything with bad feedback or press. Paypal is awesome.

I ditto Ann, on being suspicious of that contact. It reminds me of the letters
I used to get from a person on Death Row, when I was involved with a Prison Ministry. Beware is written all over that message.

I agree with everyone about being cautious. And doesn't anyone else think it's kind of odd for an American to refer to the US as the "United States of America"??? I just kind of thought "How many Americans would actually type it all out?" Maybe it's just me. But all the grammatical errors also made me think the same as the other folks have noted.

So my personal favorite is when he explains to me what "payment" is... like I'm not smart enough to figure out that it's the money????

at least it was good for a laugh
