I tried making the dump cake in the DCB tonight and had to let it cook in the microwave for much longer than the recipe calls for. Does anyone have any tips for this recipe? How are you suppose to know when it is cooked all the way? ::blushing: I wanted to do this recipe tomorrow to show off the DCB.

Probably depends on the wattage of the microwave. I have an older one, so I always add time to mine! Can you make something else? The Apple Cherry Crisp is really yummy & easy to make. I made it on Thanksgiving and everyone LOVED it. :)

I followed the directions. Remember that it will be gooey, appearing that it's not done, because of the frosting.

I do the apple pie filling, white cake mix and butter no frosting. And depending on the microwave I eyeball it. After the initia time if it still looks really gooey I add 5-10 minutes. I have never had to cook longer then 25 minutes even in the oldest microwave I have used.

I did this for my team on Monday. Brought a gallon of vanilla ice cream too...YUMMO!!!

Hope I have inspired them to add this recipe to their party routine!

any idea of how to get the time to cook for an oven? Unfortunately, my next host does not have a large enough microwave and I want to show the DCB!!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a DCB Dump Cake and how is it different from a traditional dump cake?

A DCB Dump Cake is a dessert made in the Pampered Chef Deep Covered Baker (DCB) that combines fruit, cake mix, and other ingredients for a quick and easy treat. Unlike a traditional dump cake, which is typically baked in a standard oven, the DCB allows for microwave cooking, making it faster and often resulting in a moister cake.

Why is my DCB Dump Cake not cooking evenly?

If your DCB Dump Cake is not cooking evenly, it may be due to uneven distribution of ingredients or incorrect microwave settings. Make sure to spread the ingredients evenly in the DCB and check that your microwave is set to the correct power level. Additionally, consider rotating the DCB halfway through cooking for more even heat distribution.

What can I do if my DCB Dump Cake is too dry?

If your DCB Dump Cake turns out too dry, it could be due to overcooking or not enough moisture in the recipe. To remedy this, try adding a bit more fruit or liquid (like juice or milk) to the mixture before cooking. You can also serve it with ice cream or whipped cream to add moisture and flavor.

How can I prevent my DCB Dump Cake from sticking to the baker?

To prevent your DCB Dump Cake from sticking, make sure to properly grease the baker before adding your ingredients. You can use cooking spray or a light coating of oil. Additionally, letting the cake cool for a few minutes before attempting to remove it can help it release more easily.

What are some variations I can try with my DCB Dump Cake recipe?

There are many variations you can try with your DCB Dump Cake! You can experiment with different fruits, such as peaches, cherries, or berries. You can also add nuts, chocolate chips, or spices like cinnamon for added flavor. Additionally, consider using different cake mixes, like chocolate or spice cake, to create unique combinations.
