What is the difference? I have some people who are concerened about Teflon and I need to know what the difference is between teflon pans and ours. Can anyone help?

Teflon is an early version of nonstick coating. Autograph is several generations more advanced (like the difference between a Model T and a Mustang). Your best source for valid descriptions and information is probably the DuPont website.

Autograph®
The best DuPont™ Teflon® non-stick
Top of the line cookware
Custom formulated
Designed to stand up to constant use and expectations by avid/gourmet cooks

This is directly from the Teflon/Dupont Website - I would assume Autograph is included as Tephlon from the description

When I am talking about the Dupont Autograph Coating I tell my guest's that "if DuPont is good enough for NASCAR, it great for us in the kitchen!"

Yes I love NASCAR. :)

I was taught that our non-stick is baked on rather than sprayed on & therefore one could (but shouldn't) technically scrape the pans with a metal fork & the coating would stay put!Don't know if that's true, but that was our training from HO!

I love eating my eggs off of discarded NASCAR tailpipes, but I never new they were made by Dupont! Now that I know it's Dupont that NASCAR used to source their tailpipes I can rest assured their cookware's safe for me and my family! I don't have to worry about this article anymore: https://theintercept.com/2015/08/11/dupont-chemistry-deception/I'm ready to burn some teflon asphalt baby! Who's with me?

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Teflon?

Teflon is a brand name for a type of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), a synthetic fluoropolymer that is known for its non-stick properties. It is commonly used as a coating for cookware, such as frying pans and baking sheets, to prevent food from sticking and to make cleaning easier.

What is DuPont Autograph Coating?

DuPont Autograph Coating is a specific type of non-stick coating developed by DuPont, which is known for its durability and resistance to scratching. It is often used in high-quality cookware to provide a long-lasting non-stick surface that can withstand higher cooking temperatures.

Is Teflon safe to use?

When used correctly, Teflon is generally considered safe for cooking. However, it is important to avoid overheating Teflon-coated cookware, as temperatures above 500°F (260°C) can cause the coating to break down and release harmful fumes. Always follow the manufacturer's guidelines for safe use.

Can Teflon coatings scratch or wear off?

Yes, Teflon coatings can scratch or wear off over time, especially if metal utensils are used or if the cookware is subjected to high heat. To prolong the life of Teflon-coated cookware, it is recommended to use wooden or silicone utensils and to avoid using abrasive cleaning tools.

How does DuPont Autograph Coating compare to traditional Teflon?

DuPont Autograph Coating is designed to be more durable and resistant to scratching compared to traditional Teflon coatings. It often features enhanced non-stick properties and can withstand higher cooking temperatures, making it a preferred choice for many professional chefs and home cooks alike.
