Great advice Rita!rwesterpchef said:I spoke with a woman named Julie about 2 weeks ago regarding this issue. Julie said that foil and ice would not sharpen, but dull the chopper. She said that with proper use, the chopper should not dull. If you use it on traditional veggies, meat, etc. She did say that if you chop a lot of hard candies with it, it can potentially dull. Upon which, you could take it to a professional knife sharpener and see if they could sharpen it a bit.
I do not use hard candies on mine. I use the meat tenderizer for crushing them.
I would recommend calling home office first, regarding replacement AND regarding solutions to a performance problem with a product. Assumption solutions could potentially do more harm than good to your customers product.
The best methods to sharpen your Pampered Chef food chopper include using a honing steel or a sharpening stone. For honing, hold the chopper at a 20-degree angle and gently slide the blade along the steel several times on each side. If using a sharpening stone, apply a bit of water or oil to the stone, and carefully run the blade across it, maintaining the same angle.
You should sharpen your food chopper whenever you notice a decline in its cutting performance. This may vary depending on usage, but a good rule of thumb is to sharpen it every few months or after heavy use. Regular maintenance will help keep it in optimal condition.
It is not recommended to clean your Pampered Chef food chopper in the dishwasher, as the high heat and harsh detergents can damage the blade and handle. Instead, hand wash it with warm soapy water and dry it immediately to maintain its performance and longevity.
If your food chopper remains dull after sharpening, it may be time to consider professional sharpening services or replacing the blade. Sometimes, if the blade has been excessively worn down, it may not be salvageable through home sharpening methods.
To maintain the performance of your food chopper, always clean it after each use, avoid cutting hard items that can damage the blade, and store it in a safe place where the blade won't be knocked or dulled. Additionally, regularly check for any signs of wear and sharpen as needed to ensure it remains effective.
