So, how many people have been following this show and trying to fold the advice the give the contestants in their own presentation? The big thing I picked up tonight is not to be too demo-y - incorporate your personal experience. I wish I had a dvr so I could go over all the suggestions again.

I've never heard of this show. What is it?

Totally watching this program and it is very relatable to what we do!

Interestingly enough, I watch several Food Network cooking shows as "training & research" so that I can get better at presentations, etc.

My biggest challenges are cooking & talking and getting the info I want in the demo w/o feeling "scripted".

Janel,

The Next Food Network Star is a reality show on The Food Network, and the winner will get their own show. The last episode is the end of this week or next week.

M,

I do too!!! I would love to do a 30 minute show theme!!!

I love this show too! I think viewers get to vote this week for the winner. I think I've caught every episode, but I'm not positive.

love itMy husband and I have this show set up with TiVo so that we don't miss an episode, but I can't believe it's only something like 5 episodes long. This show is great. I've been watching the food network with my notebook lately because there are some many great quick tips. I was watching some kitchen remodeling show over the weekend that stars the female chef from Iron Chef America and she gave out great tips when she took the couple who owned the kitchen shopping for basic kitchen necessities.

Alton Brown is another great one for tips and general information that can make your own show better.

write off your cable??I love ALton Brown's Good Eats - Lots of great tips to pass around.

I was just wondering since we watch the Food Network for Training and Educational purposes, can we write off a portion of our cable bill?? :)

Maybe you ladies could share a couple of the awesome tips you have heard that you think would be neat for us to share with our customers. I would love to hear them! :D

I watch the show more for tips for myself- in presentation, etc. rather than tips for the guest. Here are a couple of items that I have gotten from the show: The "judges" keep talking about personality as being a key element in getting the audience engaged...you can have the best technical demo, but if you don't include personal experiences/jokes/anecdotes, then the guest will quickly tune you out. Also, you have to balance personality w/ knowledge...sure, it's nice for people to like you, but if you don't know what you're talking about you lose credibility- people want to feel confident in you.
