I've been thinking about you...

It actually went well, just got home from down south. The neighbor across from the church got so mad that the other group was scheduled to come that he personally paid for 2 officers to be on duty!!!! He also lined his ENTIRE farmfield with mini flags - for about a mile or so...

Anyway, the Patriot Guard showed up with about 20-30 members - it looked SOOOO cool! Liz even went outside to thank them.

The "other" group didn't show up that we know of...there were 3 people the police were keeping a VERY CLOSE eye on but they didn't cause trouble.

Christian's service lasted over 1 1/2 hours, it was so neat. Also, it was neat to see how much he accomplished in the past 5-6 years in the military, all his medalions from Korea, Afghanistan and other places and how even his senior officers looked up to him. A guy walked in about 5 minutes before the service started, tapped Liz on the shoulder and she about burst into tears after being shocked. Here is was one of Christian's superior officers...he flew last minute from Germany and made it just in time.

31 is too young to die but he left a great legacy.

Thanks for thinking of us - it was a bittersweet day.

Janet, I'm so glad the day honored Christian. I was thinking of you also.

The funeral of a fallen hero is nothing short of amazing, humbling, and emotional! I'm glad that some members of the Patriot Guard were able to make it! It's really a sight to see...especially when over 100 of them show up.

I'm glad things went smooth. These types of funerals are very powerful. Last summer, we lost my uncle. He had served in Vietnam, Desert Storm, and Iraq. The service was very moving and to see all the younger guys that were under his command in Iraq become emotional was even more touching. I can't hear "American Soldier" without my eyes filling with tears.
God bless Christain for his service and giving it all he had until the end.
I will continue to keep you in my prayers as you continue through the holiday season.

Oh...I am so glad that his memorial service was not disrupted! Praise God for clearing that path for all of you and his family to have a peaceful service.

I can't even imagine what that service would be like...glad it went well, and I am honored and thankful that so many willingly choose to serve our country!
