I have a customer who has her own candy business and is looking for a high heat spoon. Does anyone know what heat our bamboo spoons can withstand and not crack?

Thanks!

I'd call or e-mail the test kitchens.

I used the Mega Scraper for toffee at Christmas and it was fantastic. Long handle and can withstand the high heat.

I made toffee this year for Christmas and used both the mix and scrape and bamboo spoons, I had no problems with either one. I think (without looking at the recipe) toffee gets to 300-400 degrees to be considered a hard crack.

The catalog states that the Mix 'n Scrapers are heat resistant to 650 degrees....

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the heat resistance of bamboo spoons used in candy making?

Bamboo spoons are generally heat resistant up to about 400°F (204°C). This makes them suitable for stirring and mixing candy ingredients without the risk of melting or warping, as long as they are not exposed to direct flames or extreme heat for prolonged periods.

Are bamboo spoons safe for use with hot candy mixtures?

Yes, bamboo spoons are safe for use with hot candy mixtures. Their natural properties allow them to withstand high temperatures, making them ideal for stirring hot syrups and mixtures without compromising their integrity or releasing harmful chemicals.

How do bamboo spoons compare to other materials in terms of heat resistance?

Bamboo spoons generally outperform plastic spoons in heat resistance, as plastic can melt or warp at lower temperatures. Compared to metal spoons, bamboo is less conductive, which means it won't become as hot to the touch, providing a safer option for handling hot candy mixtures.

Can bamboo spoons be used for both hot and cold candy preparations?

Absolutely! Bamboo spoons are versatile and can be used for both hot and cold candy preparations. They are effective for mixing, stirring, and serving a variety of candy types, making them a great tool for any candy business.

How should bamboo spoons be cared for to maintain their heat resistance?

To maintain the heat resistance and longevity of bamboo spoons, avoid soaking them in water for extended periods and do not expose them to extreme heat or direct flames. Hand washing with mild soap and drying them promptly will help preserve their quality and functionality.
