When your consultant is trying to talk up £60 knives and how awesome they are, it is NOT great for your sales to spend 10 minutes going on and on about how great the Quickut paring knife is.

Guess what my top seller was at that party?

Opps! I've done the same thing.

Of course, my hope is that they'll fall so in love with that and the other inexpensive gadgety things that they'll keep coming back. As I like to point out, you can tell the quality of a company's line of products by the quality of their lower-cost items. If they take great care with the cheap stuff, they'll certainly take even greater care with the more expensive stuff.

She just kept telling everyone that they could do almost anything with that little knife so why buy an expensive one, and it's lifetime guaranteed too!

I can see where that would hurt sales.

Most of my customers buy the gadgets all of the times and every once in a while treat themselves to something big. A lot of times their gadget orders are more than their order for one big thing.:D

Most of the times when I sell the forged knives they are to host. I have sold several of the paring knives (I have one person who buys them to add up to use for steak knives) but I do not think I have sold the other ones to anyone that is not a host.

If the talk about the quickcu paring knives maybe compromise with the prize and talk about the Artichoke colored knives and boost sales amount with them! They really are nice if you can get past the colot if you are not crazy about artichoke all over.

I hope that came out in the right "tone" b/c I do not and am not remotely sounding like I am saying anything downing about your tip!

:) :) :) I usually have the guests tell what their favorite PC product is, and one way they love to use it - but I always tell them my 2 rules:
1. You can't repeat what somoeone else has already said - have to choose a "new" favorite.
2. Your favorite product can't be the quik cut knife, the mini serving spatula, or the citrus peeler, because we already know those are everyone's favorites!:D
This diffuses that situation some......
Must be your hosts wants more of those knives, huh?

Well in the US I sold lots of the forged cutlery in that month before I moved. But here I haven't sold one yet... however the one booking I got is for a woman who owns a catering business so maybe she wants to get some of that stuff at her show. :)

Amber~

That is frustrating, I am sure! Make sure you talk up the utlity knife our "try me piece" of the forged collection- and pass them around along with one of our self sharpening knives so they can FEEL the difference. If they try one of those knives, they will want them all!

About those paring knives...my cousin buys them by the gross! Well, not really by the gross, but she buys them in quantity at each of her shows. For her first show (she already loved them) she made sure I had enough on hand to give one to everyone and she paid for them! On her and her sister's orders, they usually order 10-15 at a time! Then, whenever she is doing something that she wants a really sharp one, she just pops out a new one! Once they aren't working as well for her, she just throws it away. If they all spent the $$$ to get the forged knives, they would actually spend LESS in the long run!! That's the next thing I am going to get her hooked on! (She LOVES stoneware and our cookware and SA...I keep trying to get her to sell...)

Sorry to go off in another direction...I feel your pain though. I don't even MENTION those knives and they STILL sell! I would be cringing inside if my host was trying to sell them to everyone like that! Hurt her sales, too, I'm sure!

Yeah, I don't understand the fascination with the QK Knife. I think it has a limited usefulness. All I use mine for is picking beans. I am much more in love with my Forged Chef's Knife.

And the Mini Serving Spatula is my #1 seller and I *NEVER* talk about it at shows. I use it, yes, but never talk about it!

I have a whole list of things I never talk about, but are always top sellers....

Micro Cookers
Citrus Peelers
Mini Spatulas
QK Knives
Can Strainer
Decorator Bottle Set
Bamboo Spoons & Spatulas
Spoon Rest
Easy Opener
Adjustable measuring spoons

I guess these are the things people look at and think "oh I could use one of those...."....

The QK paring knife is nice for small jobs... or when I don't have time to wash and dry my forged paring knife after use! Like to cut up green onions to make the curls on the aloha pizza, the QK is perfect size for doing that!

I talk about the can strainer only because I try to see the can opener, and they go hand in hand!

That's a good idea (#2). I always have people saying those and that's a really great way to stop it. They are everyone's favorites. Thanks!!

Actually the Quick Cut only has a 5-year warranty.

I use my quickcut to open my PC boxes because I don't have an i-slice!!

Do you want me to send you an I-slice Gillian? It is a must have item in my book. I give a lot of them away as thank you gifts
