If it was in my house - Saurkraut! :)

I love saurkraut! Growing up my mother made a recipe called German Dish and it is so good and yummy.

One can new potatoes
One jar saurkraut
One sausage - I use Hilshire farms sausages
1 can beer.

Cook in crock pot. That's it easy, and yummy!

We love sausages and saurkraut as well but this was horrible.

Recipe: 1pk (16oz) Sausage
1 jar (32oz) Sauerkraut
1 pound of red potatoes
Cook Sausages for 8 minutes then cut into pces. Add sauerkraut and potatoes bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer for 25-30minutes. It tasted like vinager and nothing else. Terrible:(

If you added an apple & some onion it would have taken much of the sourness away....;)

Or drain and rinse the sauerkraut before you use it.It sounds like it would be good, so that's weird that it wasn't.

I know a girl that was raised in Germany, and she said our saurkraut is so much stronger than what they have over there.
She said she ALWAYS rinses the saurkraut before using it, and I do too.

I thought about draining it but the potatoes are to boil in the liquid. I think it would be a good dish with just using plain cabbage.
