If you cook a fish on the stoneware will it leave a fishy taste or smell? The cooling rack, if you use it overtime will it get rusty? These are the questions that came up today on my cooking show and I told them honestly that I'm not sure what the answer is but will look it up and will let them know as soon as I find out.

Thank you

The cooling rack might get rusty if you leave it in water. But who does that? It's not going to get rusty in normal use.My stoneware has never kept a fish odor, either.

I second what Keith said. I've got a few cooling racks that look as new as the day I bought them- YEARS ago! And we cook fish often on a bar pan, and I've never had a problem.

If you put your cooling rack in the dishwasher (which you're not supposed to do) or don't dry it properly you can wind up with rust on your cooling rack. Use and care is important with most of our products.

Thank you so much for the response and I got back with them with the answer. I have a customer from Belize who ordered 3 cooling racks and will take it home to her country.

Again, thank you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do stoneware products from Pampered Chef affect the flavor of fish dishes?

Yes, stoneware can enhance the flavor of fish dishes. The porous nature of stoneware allows for even heat distribution, which can help retain moisture and enhance the natural flavors of the fish. Additionally, stoneware can absorb and retain seasonings, contributing to a more flavorful cooking experience.

Can using cooling racks impact the texture of cooked fish?

Yes, using cooling racks can impact the texture of cooked fish. Cooling racks allow air to circulate around the fish, preventing it from becoming soggy. This helps maintain a crispy exterior while keeping the inside moist and tender, resulting in a better overall texture.

Is there a difference in durability between stoneware and metal cooling racks when cooking fish?

Stoneware is generally more durable than metal cooling racks when it comes to cooking fish. Stoneware can withstand high temperatures and is less likely to warp or bend. However, metal cooling racks are also durable and can be used for various cooking tasks, but they may not provide the same heat retention benefits as stoneware.

Do stoneware and cooling racks require special care to maintain their quality when cooking fish?

Yes, both stoneware and cooling racks require specific care to maintain their quality. Stoneware should be seasoned and cleaned properly to prevent cracking and to maintain its non-stick properties. Cooling racks should be cleaned after each use to prevent rust and ensure longevity. Following the manufacturer's care instructions will help preserve both products.

Can the use of stoneware and cooling racks together improve the overall cooking experience for fish?

Absolutely! Using stoneware in combination with cooling racks can improve the overall cooking experience for fish. The stoneware provides even heating and flavor enhancement, while the cooling rack allows for proper air circulation, ensuring that the fish cooks evenly and maintains a desirable texture. This combination can lead to a more enjoyable meal.
