Today I was faced with a situation that I have not faced previously. I received a letter from one of the principals in one of our 8 school buildings. She asked me how I felt about the following:
Dr. Black,
My name is Pamala Smith and I am a Pampered Chef Consultant. My son is not student at your school but he is a student at XXXXX Primary. The month of May is Pampered Chefs Help Whip Cancer month and part of my sales are contributed to the American Cancer Society's breast cancer education and early detection programs. What I am trying to find out is if I could be able to come up to the school during lunch for one day and sit in the teachers lounge. I would like to bring a few of my products for the teachers to look at and a few Catalogs in helping me make my goal for next month.
Thank you so much for your time in this matter and I really look forward from hearing back from you!

My response back to the prinicpal was the following:
As a Lunch Director or a Pampered Chef consultant? LOL!!!
As an employee of the school which is the answer you will need to heed by...you are to make that decision.
I was going to do a school wide faculty and staff fund raiser for XXXX and XXXXX XXXXXX's Relay for Life team, but again, I will make this your call and will have no problem with whatever decision you make.
I am sure I don't have to tell you this, but as a Pampered Chef consultant, she is trying to further her business.
I appreciate you bringing this to my attention. Let me know what you decide about the fundraiser I was thinking about doing for Relay for Life. Again, what ever you decide, I will not have a problem with.
Thanks,
Ann
I then looked on our website, did a search and her name did not come up. It may be that she is either new or did not update her address yet if she just moved here (which is possible) She is located on our nearby military base (which has a ton more people than our communities). She is not on my team nor has her director contacted me (the only director in a 100 mile radius) for hospitality.
I wanted to be professional, but I will admit, I had to force it. This is where me working at the school can have a negative effect. Because I am a department head (in the administrative end) I have to not be too obvious, etc. so I do not push it. People are aware that I do PC. The other thing is with my job at the school, I have to make decisions that are not popular at times and some tend to hold onto it when it comes to my PC business.
Maybe I am just feeling sorry for myself. My April was great, but my May is :sick::sick: Instead of Helping to Whip Cancer, this is helping me to whip my business. I have been offered great suggestions, but time is getting away from me to promote it.
Well, enough :cry::cry:ing!! Thanks for the shoulder!
