Delicious Soup Recipes for Affordable Gift-Giving

In summary, Lisa is giving away recipes and the ones she likes are really thick and full-bodied. She recommends using a bread machine to make the bread because it's easy and affordable. Dawn suggests another recipe that sounds good and is easy to make.

Any tried and tested recipes???? I have cute bowls I am giving people and wanted to do "jar of soup" with this! However, I want something yummy and not terribly expensive!?!?!?

Dawn,
Here's a recipe I made a few years ago, and one teacher always asks if she'll get that again if she gets the younger girls, so must have been good.

Cheesy Potatoe Soup Mix~
2 cup powdered coffee creamer
½ cup Imitation Bacon Bits
2 (1.5 oz.) Packages Knorr Four Cheese Sauce Mix
2 T. Parsley Flakes
1 tsp. salt free-seasoning blend
½ tsp. pepper
2 Cups Potato Buds (Betty Crocker Instant Potatoes)

Layer the ingredients in the order given into a wide
mouth 1 quart canning
jar. Pack each layer in place before adding the next
ingredient.

Attach a gift tag with the cooking instructions:
Cheesy Potatoe Soup
1 Jar Cheesy Potatoe Soup Mix
2 (5 oz) cans ham *optional*

Place the Cheesy Potatoe SOup mix in a large soup pot.
Add 8 cups boiling
water. Mix well and let stand 5 minutes. Heat Ham in
Microwave and stir in.

This is sooo delicious! It is VERY thick and full
bodied! My family really
loves it!

I serve it with the following Garden Bread.

Garden Herb Bread
3/4 c. water
2 C. white flour
1 T. Dry Milk *powdered*
1 T. Sugar
1 t. salt
1 T. Butter
1 t. Chives
1 t. Marjoram
1 t. Thyme
1/2 t. Basil
2 t. Dry Active Yeast

**Use dried flaked herbs. If using ground, reduce by
half. If using fresh,
double.

Place in Breadmaker in order given and follow Bread
machine directions...

Wow, that does sound good!! I might try that myself just to be able to have soup on hand when I'm in the mood for it.

The soup and bread both sound wonderful!

That bread recipe looks amazingly similar to the Taste of Home 4 Herb Bread recipe I've used for quite a few years.

Mix, let rise and bake it in the oven.

Or go to the local Goodwill and buy a new bread machine for $2.00 like I did! :D

i don't go to thrift stores often enough to find great deals.... plus i always end up wondering, "What's wrong with it?" if i do find a steal.
