just wanted to share what I made today for my kids when they came home from school...they loved them. I also made a heart shaped stromboli using 2 french loaf bread dough and filling with cheese and pepperoni and shaping the two into a heart and baking it...didn't get a pic of it before they gobbled it up.

love the SA to write onMy kids love when we write on the SA plates or cups...sometimes I'll put little messages on their plate if they did something good in school that day, so when they sit down to the dinner table they have a little message on their mug or plate. Just use Dry erase markers and be sure not to get it next to their food. You could use this idea for conversation starters at the dinner table. We don't get to sit down and eat together as much as we used to when they were littler!!! sniff sniff! Seems like we're running all over the place now with their crazy schedules...with 5 of them, I guess that's what you get...but we love it

That is great, I bet they loved the surprise!!

Frequently Asked Questions

What ingredients do I need to make heart-shaped stromboli?

To make heart-shaped stromboli, you will need pizza dough, your choice of deli meats (like ham or turkey), cheese (such as mozzarella or provolone), and any additional fillings like bell peppers, onions, or spinach. Don't forget to have some marinara sauce for dipping!

How do I shape the stromboli into a heart?

To shape the stromboli into a heart, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle. Then, add your fillings in the center, leaving some space around the edges. Fold the sides of the dough over the fillings, then pinch the ends together to form a point. Finally, use a knife to trim the top into a heart shape before baking.

Can I make the stromboli ahead of time?

Yes, you can prepare the stromboli ahead of time! Assemble it and then wrap it tightly in plastic wrap. Store it in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours before baking. Just remember to let it sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes before baking to ensure even cooking.

What is the best way to bake the stromboli?

The best way to bake the stromboli is to preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the shaped stromboli on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through. For an extra touch, you can brush the top with olive oil or melted butter before baking.

Can I customize the fillings in the stromboli?

Absolutely! One of the great things about stromboli is its versatility. You can customize the fillings based on your kids' preferences. Try different meats, cheeses, and vegetables, or even add pizza sauce or pesto for extra flavor. Just make sure not to overfill it to prevent leaks during baking!
