I just had a host ask if steaks can be cooked in the DCB? I have never tried; anyone out there have an answer?

Not sure what kind of steak you would do in the DCB....it's a BAKING dish! I've never baked a steak.:D

I can't imagine cooking a steak like that. I'm with Becky, who bakes a steak? :D

Good thought, ladies! I think she saw the chicken come out so well, and we can do pork tenderloin (who bakes that?) so I just thought I'd ask!

I also can't imagine doing steaks in the DCB... I think the tenderloin is different b/c I would typically put it in a roasting pan in the oven, but I would NEVER do steaks in the oven- either on the stovetop (crusted, cooked in a little oil in a saute pan), on my grill pan, or on the grill.

I think that when you are doing the chicken, or the tenderloin - you are using the DCB as a Roaster...and roasting them. An appropriate method for cooking a chicken or pork loin. But steaks are generally not baked or roasted...usually pan-fried, grilled, or broiled. (I know there are exceptions to the rule though, so everyone doesn't have to blast me with their great-grandma's baked steak recipe! :D:D:D)

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a DCB and how is it used for cooking steaks?

A DCB, or Deep Covered Baker, is a versatile stoneware piece from Pampered Chef designed for cooking a variety of dishes, including steaks. It retains heat and moisture, allowing for even cooking and enhanced flavor. When cooking steaks in a DCB, you can use the microwave or oven, making it a convenient option for quick meals.

What are the best types of steaks to cook in a DCB?

While you can cook various cuts of steak in a DCB, some of the best options include ribeye, sirloin, and filet mignon. These cuts tend to be tender and flavorful, and they cook well in the moist environment of the DCB, resulting in juicy steaks.

How do I season my steaks before cooking them in a DCB?

For the best flavor, season your steaks with a blend of salt, pepper, and your favorite spices or marinades. You can also use Pampered Chef's seasoning blends for added flavor. Allow the steaks to marinate for at least 30 minutes to enhance the taste before placing them in the DCB.

What is the recommended cooking time for steaks in a DCB?

The cooking time for steaks in a DCB can vary based on the thickness of the steak and your desired level of doneness. As a general guideline, cook 1-inch thick steaks for about 6-8 minutes in the microwave or 20-25 minutes in a preheated oven at 375°F. Always use a meat thermometer to ensure your steak reaches the desired internal temperature.

Can I grill steaks in a DCB, or is it only for baking?

While the DCB is primarily designed for baking, it can also be used to achieve a grilled effect by using the oven's broiler setting. This method allows for a nice sear on the outside while keeping the inside juicy. However, traditional grilling methods on an outdoor grill will give you a different flavor profile and texture.
