Director Who's the Pampered Chef consultant promoting herself on Pinterest?

makes...a business? I don't know how to put this...I don't think it's a good idea to promote yourself on Pinterest. I don't think it's a good idea to build your business this way. It sounds like it's just a free for all and no one really makes any money this way. I don't think I want to delve into this world.

Great, now consultants are pimping themselves on Pinterest....ugh!!!

I know her, she's a director in my area. http://pinterest.com/pin/84864774198017169/
She recently repromoted. Click the link in Pinterest and it goes straight to her PWS

no one builds a business this way...they only way to build a business is to make personal contacts and do cooking show... period.

I'm afraid to delve into the world of Pinterest. It seems so overwhelming to me. I waste enough time on FB and other areas online!

Sounds like they'll need to put the word out about this.

One of them I believe is a director under my NED too. Maybe I'll post a question on my NED's team FB asking for clarification about this before I go start posting things on Pinterest (even though I don't know if I plan to because I just don't understand it yet). I'll be interested to hear what my NED says in response to this and what her interpretation is. Hmmmmm... let's see what happens.

Let's see IF she responds!

I hope my post didn't sound weird. I should have just asked what are the rules about Pinterest.

It's official...I am aging...never even heard of Pinterest.:(

I've never been on Pininterest. I'm not sure what it's even about. Is it like FB?

i don't really "get it." I guess you can have your own page and you post things like crafts, recipes, pictures, etc. But do they show up on a big pinterest bulletin board type thing? Someone else I'm sure can answer this. The only time I looked on there before today was when there were those funny family Christmas pictures going around in December.

I love me some Pinterest! I have gotten a lot of great ideas there. I 'thought' it was a sharing board for ideas, recipes, crafts, decorating....not a place to sell or promote yourself. I think I'll go on the PC fb page and ask that question...lol!

yep! The person who's link I posted was about to lose her biz (many of us thought she had already quit). She lost her D title about a year or so ago and just did enough to stay active. She never lost her team, and somehow signed a real fire-cracker (who, I've heard she has never met or even talked to). Well this girl promoted to D and Heather immediately picked up her own sales so she promoted straight to AD....crazy! But, she's been a consultant for about 5 yrs and she should know the rules. I can let it slide when a consultant breaks these kinds of rules, but if your a D or higher, you should know better.

Just because someone has been in the biz a while doesn't mean they know the rules. On a loop I'm on, an ED asks policy questions and 'where do I find this' questions ALL THE TIME! It makes me so mad! At that level she should be able to recite the policies. IMO.

I hear ya on that one (or should i say 'her') LOL. I wish to reach thru the computer screen and slap them. The same goes for the HO spending so much time on monthly group calls for D's and above where they go on and on about the specials...If you're a leader and don't know what the specials are, shame on you! Quit wasting our time. Move over, some of us have business to conduct. :)

Jennifer Fong, who is a social media specialist for direct sales, recently had a blog post about using Pinterest for business. I'll see if I can dig it up.PC hired her to do our two online trainings about using Facebook and I believe she still consults with them. Here is her post: http://www.jenfongspeaks.com/why-i-think-pinterest-is-the-next-big-thing-for-direct-sales/

I do remember seeing her post. I can see doing it for posting recipes and things like that. But, as has been mentioned, it's still the personal contact that really creates business. But I can also see that for me personally (who already has trouble getting off the computer to get work done), it would just be another time-sucker! I'm afraid to even start!! I have a few friends who love it and the longer I try to stay away, the more productive I think I'll personally be. Ha!!

Yes, and it's not supposed to be "Here is a board of products you should buy!"

put together recipe boards, where you post a picture of the recipe and the key tools. Or a theme show board or something.....not just "buy my stuff"!

That's my opinion anyway.

What's funny is that she probably feels she is 'working her biz' by pinning stuff and will have NO CLUE why she doesn't get any biz...
