Here's a stumper!

I have a guest who baked salmon in her stoneware bar pan. She claims she's tried everything but soap to remove the fishy smell to no avail. I suggested rubbing pan with lemon, but she says she's tried that.

Any suggestions? Can she try a baking soda paste, or will that leave a bitter residue?

Yes she can do the baking soda paste. HO says to do that but only once in a while. Hope that helps! :)

Also have her bake a couple batches of crescent rolls in there. See if that helps get the smell out. I've used my stones for salmon before and I've never had that problem.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I remove the fishy smell from my Pampered Chef Stoneware Bar Pan?

To remove the fishy smell from your Stoneware Bar Pan, try soaking it in a mixture of warm water and baking soda for several hours. After soaking, scrub the pan gently with a non-abrasive sponge and rinse thoroughly. You can also use a mixture of vinegar and water to help neutralize odors.

Is it safe to use bleach to remove odors from my Stoneware Bar Pan?

No, it is not recommended to use bleach or any harsh chemicals on your Pampered Chef Stoneware Bar Pan, as they can damage the surface and affect its cooking performance. Stick to natural cleaning solutions like baking soda or vinegar.

Can I use my Stoneware Bar Pan in the dishwasher to remove the fishy smell?

While some people may choose to wash their Stoneware in the dishwasher, it is not recommended by Pampered Chef. Hand washing with mild soap and warm water is the best way to maintain the integrity of the stoneware and help remove odors effectively.

What if the fishy smell persists after cleaning my Stoneware Bar Pan?

If the smell persists, try placing the pan in a well-ventilated area to air out. You can also sprinkle baking soda on the surface and let it sit overnight before rinsing it off. This can help absorb any remaining odors.

Are there any preventative measures to avoid fishy smells in my Stoneware Bar Pan?

To prevent fishy smells, avoid cooking fish or strongly scented foods in your Stoneware Bar Pan if possible. If you do cook fish, make sure to clean the pan immediately after use and avoid letting it soak in water for extended periods, as this can trap odors.
