Sorry I'm checking in late. Kelly, I have been through a similar situation and actually took a break from my AD for about 6 months. I didn't go to cluster meetings and I wrote her an e-mail to leae me alone. Not feeling pressured to please her (i.e. get her promoted) helped me refocus on my goals and my joy doing Pampered Chef.

Good for you to let her know she was out of line. I hope that other postings and time help you get back to where YOU want to be with your biz.

And you know what...you can always listen to the workshops after conference!! They post them about a month or so after in the Online Training Center. So you can still get the benefit of the knowledge at those workshops. Yes, you miss a few things in general session and the Keynote speakers, as well as the ENERGY of the crowd, but you can still get alot of great ideas and information.
(I actually heard the keynote speakers on a free teleseminar awhile back with Julie Anne Jones....so sometimes you get to hear it elsewhere, or just check out their website and hear part of what they have to say. You get the general idea from it. (http://www.goforno.com))So don't worry about not going....no one HAS to go. And like you said, you can't compromise your own situation and family. That's the beauty of our business...we CAN work it the way WE want to, not how someone else wants us to.Good luck! We'll see you NEXT year at NC ;).

I meet an x-consultant last night – she loved the business and is thinking about getting back in (with me) but was nervous because of her last experience. She quit because she was being pressured all the time by her recruiter; do this, do that and if you don’t then I lose out. She said she just couldn’t take it anymore and was so upset because she loved the business, she loved meeting people and didn’t want to leave but it was unbearable. It’s too bad that these types of situations happen when you have such an enthusiastic consultant who loves what they are doing with their own business. I am hoping that I can work with her and let her see what a positive team we have; I just know she would love it again.

One of my team members quit in the past for the same reason. She's now on my low-pressure team and doing the business as she wants.

Rae - tell me you were not the high pressure type that drove away a consultant? That seems so unlike you!

No, John, I'm her new non-pressure Team Leader. She left the business a couple of years ago when her director started pressuring her to perform. She had been a top performer until her youngest was born, then made it clear that she wanted to take a step back. That's when the pressure started.

Well thank goodness she found you! I think I told this story years ago. I was at NC - 2001 - and was waiting to get in to the Aire Crown Theater for a general session. I was listening to two directors bad mouthing a couple of their recruits. One for not recruiting and one for only doing about $2000 in sales a month! I freaked as I was doing about $900 a month! I was so shook up that I asked my director if she was like that. I came right out and told her what I heard and that it almost had me ready quit. She majorly assured me that she would never do that. I have been as happy as a clam every since. We need more like her and you. Selfish, conniving and down right uncaring needs to be replaced with selfless, considerate and helpful in some of these ladies. I use the term loosely in their case.

Ditto John! I would not be in Pampered Chef if I was not under fabulous people too!
Pressure is not what works with me at all. Those that do not have that selfless spirit can ruin it for many. Pushiness in any business is a huge turn-off for me personally.

Thanks, John. I'm blessed to have an upline who never presses. i entered the business believing I'd be a hobbiest, which I was for the first year. If I'd been pressured to reach levels others had set for me I would never have stayed for 6 year or made PC my focus.
