anyone know of a brownie mix that actually fits the large bar pan? Any one I've tried is like "spreading butter over too much bread". Any suggestions?

It does fit. It may be a little thin, just try to get it to spread as much as possible.

I use 2 of the Bag (smaller size) mixes. Fits the Large Bar pan great! not so thin.

Be sure to use the 9x13 size mix. And I use mini chocolate chips instead of trying to chop chocolate chips. It should bake up almost to the top of the pan. Also, are you using 3 eggs (for cakelike browies)? Just some thoughts...

Oh yes, the bigger box works better (9x13). I too used the mini chocolate chips, so much better than trying to chop them. I never make mine in the "cake" style so regular works too.

I don't think these brownies are supposed to be very thick. It has been awhile since I made these.

that's another thing... I have yet to see a box that says to "make cake-like brownies" - but I'm up in the Great White North, perhaps that's the difference. I'll keep shopping around, though, thanks everyone!

To make cake like brownies, most mixes say to add an extra egg.

I always use two boxes of brownies in the large bar pan and make them fudge like. They turn out perfect and thick. I have made the warm nutty caramel brownies and doubled the brownies but left everything else the same.

There is usually a recipe variation on the back side of the box.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best brownie mix to use for the Large Bar Pan?

The best brownie mix for the Large Bar Pan is one that is specifically designed for baking in larger quantities. Look for a mix that indicates it can fill a 9x13 inch pan, as this will typically work well in the Large Bar Pan. Popular brands include Ghirardelli, Betty Crocker, and Duncan Hines.

How do I adjust baking times when using a brownie mix in the Large Bar Pan?

Baking times may vary when using the Large Bar Pan due to its size and material. Generally, you should start checking for doneness a few minutes earlier than the package instructions suggest. Use a toothpick inserted in the center; if it comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs, your brownies are done.

Can I use a homemade brownie recipe in the Large Bar Pan?

Yes, you can use a homemade brownie recipe in the Large Bar Pan. Just ensure that the recipe yields enough batter to fill the pan adequately. If the recipe is for a smaller pan, you may need to double it to ensure the brownies bake evenly.

Do I need to grease the Large Bar Pan before using it for brownies?

It is recommended to lightly grease the Large Bar Pan before pouring in the brownie mix. This helps prevent sticking and makes it easier to remove the brownies once they are baked. You can use cooking spray, butter, or parchment paper for easy removal.

Can I add mix-ins to my brownie mix when using the Large Bar Pan?

Absolutely! Adding mix-ins like nuts, chocolate chips, or caramel swirls can enhance the flavor and texture of your brownies. Just be sure not to overload the batter, as this can affect baking time and consistency.
