Like REALLY good? Since I have "good" crabmeat, not canned I want it to be worth it. Know what I mean?

The Crab Rangoon dip is tasty, but I usually make it with "crab with a K," the fake stuff. There's garlic and sweet and sour sauce on it, so the delicate flavor of real crab would be lost.

Made my own concoction:

About 1 cup crabmeat
8 oz cream cheese
3 TBSP mayo
1 TBSP swiss cheese
about 3 TBSP diced onion
1 garlic clove minced
2 small stalks celery diced
1 TBSP worchestershire
2 TBSP Red Hot
Dash of salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, paprika, parsley, thyme & adobo

I think that's it.
My plan is to bake it in the small oval baker for about 25 minutes and serve it on toasted french bread.
i'll let you know how it comes out!

I'd like to taste test that for you just to make certain it's really good enough for your family okay???? :) Please???

Yea, really! I volunteer to be a taste tester! Don't want you eating anything that is not top quality! Lemme check it for you! :p

I was thinking to myself "why waste perfectly good crab meat that you could just eat for lunch warmed and dipped in butter?!?"

Garlic butter that is! YUM!

butter, garlic butter, plain shoveled into my mouth...no matter :p

Sounds GREAT! Enjoy!!

Frequently Asked Questions

What ingredients do I need for a great hot crab dip?

To make a delicious hot crab dip, you will typically need cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, crab meat (fresh or canned), shredded cheese (like cheddar or mozzarella), garlic, green onions, and seasonings such as Old Bay seasoning, lemon juice, and pepper. Optional ingredients can include diced bell peppers or Worcestershire sauce for added flavor.

How do I prepare the hot crab dip?

To prepare the hot crab dip, start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise until smooth. Then, fold in the crab meat, shredded cheese, garlic, green onions, and seasonings. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until bubbly and golden on top. Serve warm with crackers or bread.

Can I make hot crab dip ahead of time?

Yes, you can prepare hot crab dip ahead of time! Simply mix all the ingredients as directed, then cover and refrigerate the mixture for up to 24 hours before baking. When you're ready to serve, just pop it in the oven and bake as instructed. This is a great way to save time when hosting a gathering.

What can I serve with hot crab dip?

Hot crab dip pairs well with a variety of dippers. Popular options include tortilla chips, pita chips, sliced baguette, crackers, or fresh vegetables like celery and bell pepper strips. You can also serve it with a side of pickles or olives for added flavor.

Can I substitute ingredients in the hot crab dip recipe?

Absolutely! You can customize the hot crab dip to suit your taste or dietary needs. For example, you can use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream for a healthier option, or substitute the crab meat with shrimp or a seafood blend. Additionally, if you're looking for a vegetarian option, you can use artichoke hearts or spinach in place of crab meat.
