Kitchen Diva Update: Kacey's Hospital Stay and Possible Appendix Removal

In summary, Kacey's MDs office is attached to the hospital, she has a CT scan scheduled for 2:20pm, and the MDs that are working on her case feel that it is very possible that she has an appendix. They are waiting to hear back from the lab before making a decision. Kacey is resting comfortably and is keeping her spirits high. Katie, thanks for the update.

Yeah, only I can tell a joke that someone finally gets almost 24 hours later!

That's not as bad as my groaner today...
I was in the van with DH driving to pick up his truck...he had the radio on where they were talking about a barn where the hay spontaneously combusted. They proceeded to say that they safely got the 180 cows out. I said, "What's hard about that? You walk in the barn and say MOOOOOOOOVE!"

DH thought it was so bad he couldn't even force a groan! :D

It made me giggle... just a little, but I did giggle...

Of course, that might have been out of sympathy for you, but it was a giggle none the less.

I Love cow jokes! :)

Don't feel bad Janet, some days I'm just slow! :) I'm off to take a nap... Dh is mad at me because we have to give up the Neil Diamond tickets that he bought months ago for a concert tomorrow night. I LOVE Neil Diamond, and will do my best to feel better by tomorrow- but no guarantees...anyway he's upseet because they were expensive and they'll be going to waste... I feel bad, but I'm not going to feel guilty about something I cannot control. So I'm off to take a nap- maybe when I wake up, DH will be in a better mood.

Now, that your case it different - I wonder........

Sure it ain't just gas pains??? (I'm just joking!!)

Feel better soon!

We ruled out gas, too! :) trust me ladies, there was more poking and proding going on in and on my body than at area 51 when a new alien comes in off the field...

No , I was there, but we got scolded for having fun and it was interpreted to be at someone's expense...which isn't even close to what it was, so I'm staying away from that thread. :)

I think I'm just tired, so I'll go take a little nap. Don't worry I'm not mad- just tired. :) I'll be goofy again in a few hours or so I still love you all! :) Smooches!!!

I am so sorry that you are feeling so bad. You always seem to be one of the bright lights on chefsuccess and although I do not add messages as much as a lot of the cheffers I enjoy browsing and reading all the posts. I to will add you to my prayers.

Thank you, Robin- that was very nice! I really like your artistic pumpkin-
I appreciate the kind words.

I have a headache to add to my pain so I am going to see if DH will go get me some gatorade. I have a feeling it's just a side effect from the dye they shot in my viens for the CT Scan...

Have a good night! :)

  • #63
Oh Kacey, I'm so sorry you are going through this. At least I know my pain is my gall bladder!

Maybe it's irritable bowel syndrom. Some people have severe cases. It's rare, but it can happen.

I'm praying for you!

  • #64
I had a terrible head ache myself today! It finally went away, but now I am just really tired. I just got done taking a 3 hour nap on the couch! Now I'll probably be up on CS at 3 a.m.!

I have IBS- and keep it controlled with fiber... I know that kind of pain and this isn't it. I'm telling you it feels like I have ovarian cysts that are rupturing, but the two cysts I have are the size of a piece of Peanut Butter Captain Crunch cereal - and Dr. Grande said those two little things would NOT be causing these symptoms of this much trouble- and the fact that there is an absense of fluid proves it isn't them.

UGH! I'm in a funk- we need a mood icon that says FUNK- cause I'm not really sick, but I'm not happy either! :)

I am sorry you feel so terrible Kacey. I will send lots of prayers & good feeling vibes your way!! :)

Gosh, I wish they could help you more. Did they give you some strong pain meds? They gave me Vicotin (sp?) which really helps me sleep!

I have never had an ovarian cyst - I guess I'm very lucky! My Dr. does think I have endometriosis. I'll be having endometrio eblasion surgery for that this year too! I know a few friends who have had it and it has done wonders for them.

I'm so sorry again you are going through this!

No strangely enough the pain isn't one that warrants a pain killer like that... tell me more about that surgery...

  • #69
The surgery is what they try before doing a hysterectomy. The way my Dr. explained it they blow up a balloon which hits all crevices of the uterus. They then burn it so it scars and no more lining can grow back.

My friend at work had it done last year and she has been very happy w/the results! We go to the same Dr.

Oh no, it would not be for you! Do you have endometriosis?

They say I was very lucky to not have any problems getting preg. since I have a tilted uterus (it tilts back) which makes endometriosis more common. One of my sisters has the same thing.

  • #75
Yes, I have endometriosis... had surgery for the second time about 3 years ago.

  • #76
Wow, that stinks! You probably said that on another post, but I missed it.

I have a friend who has had it since she was a teenager. She now is a marathon runner (the big ones like Boston). Exercise really seems to help her. I just don't have the desire to be a marathon runner:yuck:!

I can't wait to get my surgery scheduled - no more monthly visits!

Yeah, I ran track in Jr. High- and a little in HS, but I wasn't a distance runner, I was a relay and hurdle runner....

Anywho- Pilates and walking is my exercise and my Hormone Therapy is helping with the endometriosis...

I think I'm going to see if some Motrin will help with this headache and I might go back to bed. I cannot type with a headahce- the screen is too bright. :)

Sleep well guys, catch ya on the flip side! :)

Kacey...I just got back from my Team Meeting and wanted to see how you were doing!

I am glad (kindof) that you are home...but I guess I would rather if they knew what the heck was going on so they can help you!! (That's the "kindof" part!)

I pray that the Lord leads you to a SOLUTION and no more pain!!

I love you!

Hey Kelly- I hope your team meeting was fun and educational! Yeah, I'd rather be home than in a hospital bed- although there is something to be said for how comfy they are and how good their drugs are! LOL I'm off to bed. I took a nap from 5-something to about 8 something tonight and am ready for bed already. Heck, I was ready 2 hours ago but I have a TON of Good Eats on the TiVo and I had to get through a few of those so I could get those off into the delete bin.

Have a good night and I'll chat with you all tomorrow...

See what a bad cyber-mom I am? I was sitting in the recliner with the lights dimmed trying to doze off. As for the distance, it's probably a bit far for The Furry Guy to agree to so soon after NC. I'm sending you a cyber-<<<HUG>>>, though.

Now, listen to Momma* and get all the rest you need. Undone chores will wait until you have enough energy to do them. Don't steal energy from your recovery to do dishes or laundry. Your recovery is more important.

*This is the spelling on which my son & his friends insist.

So, our little medical mystery Diva....how are you today?

She has really been on my mind.

Kacey????

She's hopefully resting...

Resting pain FREE, I hope

Kasey, just catching up to this loop. Best wishes are being sent your way. How frustrating that they can not find a diagnosis for you.

Hope you are resting comfortably right now and back to your ole self soon!

Hi guys... I just slept in. No, I do not feel better today, but so far I do not feel worse.

I do feel bad that I have to miss the Neil Diamond concert tonight- I guess our tickets were on the floor level-19 rows from the stage..DH isn't too happy about it either (he keeps reminding me how expensive they were)

I'm just up to get my fiber, and some breakfast and then off to curl up on the couch.

No one is home for a couple of hours, so I'm enjoying the lack of crabby hubby in the house! :)

THanks for worrying... I really shouldn't be surprised that they can't find anything- they couldn't find anything wrong with me about 5 years ago- and I went to 7 doctors and specialists in a 3 year time span and everyone just said I was over weight and depressed....

Little did they know....

  • #92
ok, I need history... what happened 5yrs ago?

Tell your hubby to get over it. What does he want your health, or his $. Can't he sell them? Call a local radio station and see if they might be know someone who is wanting to go. I'm sure they get request all the time, and it sounds like you had great seats. Would you be able to take a pain pill to get thru the concert?

Hope you get better SOON

  • #93
Just wanted to say good morning to my big sista. Glad you got some sleep.

  • #94
I just keep thinking of that show "Medical Mystery"....I saw one a few years ago where a woman said, once she was finally diagnosed with something horrible, but curable, that her doctor said "sometimes when you hear hoof beats, you have to look for a zebra instead of a horse".........sometimes they just have to look at something that isn't an "obvious"!

I will keep you in my thoughts Kacey as I drive to Williamsburg to see Rick Springfield!

No- the tickets are for tonights concert, and we've already called the few people and family members we know- and everything thinks I'm a nerd for liking Neil Diamond...

I think my doctors were looking for a horse... Blow kisses to Rick for me! He's no McGyver, but he'll do! :) Actually- Rob Lowe is aging a bit better... LOL Enjoy the concert

It's a long story- basically my body stopped making hormones, my ovaries shut down, my adrenals burned out, my body became insulin resistent, thought it was in menopause- that's just the major things... I'm too tired to get into the rest of it, hope you don't mind...

I'm just not in a mentally upbeat place today. I'm not bummed or sad- just kind of blahzay
