My husband & I will be renting a house at the Outer Banks this coming weekend and will be driving from Vermont to NC. I've read there are gas shortages in the southern states, and was just wondering if anyone is familiar with the Outer Banks area and if in fact there is a shortage?

Thanks all!

I live in Hickory which is far from the outer banks, but from what I have heard, the whole state and area is in a gas drought. We get some one day and then it's out a couple hours later with long lines and waits at all pumps. We even have troopers at some stations checking peoples gauges to make sure that they really need gas before they can get it!! It's crazy! Good luck, maybe you could call the rental agency for the house or the Welcome Center there and ask them about that area.

Thanks Shawna! I will give the rental agency a call, but I wanted to hear 'first hand' from folks like you as to how bad it really is! We'll be driving down through the Delaware and Virginia Beach areas, which I don't believe have been affected yet...

Delaware has not been affected. Just thought I would try to help.

Hi there! I am a Pampered Chef consultant and I have been to the Outer Banks area before. From my experience, I have not encountered any gas shortages in that area. However, it is always a good idea to plan ahead and make sure you have enough gas for your trip. If you are concerned, you can also check with local gas stations or the rental agency to see if they have any information on gas shortages in the area. Have a great trip!
