Has anyone ever done this for a cooking show without the salad chopper? I was thinking of trying this w/ the utility knife. Someone asked for a healthy recipe for an upcoming show to serve a bunch. Thoughts?

Thanks!!

Thanks!!

I never use the salad chopper for the fajitas. If I'm making salsa to go with the fajitas, I use it for the salsa.

I don't use the SC for the fajitas either, I tell them to get chicken tenders so I don't have to cut them up

Thanks, I just tell them to get a bag, they cost about the same as chix breasts w/o the hassle!

I use chicken tenders as well but use the SC to chop them more into pieces before mixing with the o/p. I have done them with the utlitily knife as well to show that you don't have to have all of the tools to make the meal, the tools just make life easier.

I always use tenders too, but I have used both the SC and the kitchen shears. Both work great! If you wanted to, you could use shears for the chicken and SC for the salsa.

Good luck!

I usually use a knife to slice the chicken. I use the choppers for salsa.

Frequently Asked Questions

What ingredients do I need for the Healthy Chicken Fajitas?

For the Healthy Chicken Fajitas, you will need boneless, skinless chicken breasts, bell peppers (various colors), onions, olive oil, lime juice, garlic powder, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. You can also serve them with whole wheat tortillas and your favorite toppings like avocado, salsa, or Greek yogurt.

How do I prepare the chicken for the fajitas?

Start by slicing the chicken breasts into thin strips. In a bowl, combine olive oil, lime juice, garlic powder, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper to create a marinade. Add the chicken strips to the marinade and let them sit for at least 15-30 minutes to absorb the flavors before cooking.

What cooking methods can I use for the fajitas?

You can cook the chicken and vegetables in a skillet over medium-high heat, on a grill, or in the oven. If using a skillet, sauté the marinated chicken first until cooked through, then add sliced bell peppers and onions, cooking until they are tender. If grilling, cook the chicken on skewers with the vegetables for a smoky flavor.

Can I make this recipe ahead of time?

Yes, you can prepare the chicken and vegetables ahead of time. Marinate the chicken and chop the vegetables a few hours before your cooking show. You can also cook the fajitas in advance and reheat them just before serving. This makes it easier to manage during the show.

What kitchen tools do I need for this recipe?

You will need a cutting board, a sharp knife for slicing, a mixing bowl for the marinade, a skillet or grill for cooking, and serving plates. While the recipe states that no salad chopper is needed, having a good set of kitchen tools will make the preparation process smoother.
