Discussion Character

  • Anecdotal, Opinion-based

Main Points Raised

  • One participant mentions budgeting around $1000 for the entire conference experience, including airfare and hotels, but reflects that they may be overestimating based on a previous experience of spending $700.
  • Another participant outlines specific costs, noting that registration is $175 (early bird) or $200, and that sharing a hotel room can significantly reduce costs.
  • One consultant shares a budget of about $600, emphasizing that they do not include food costs since they would eat at home otherwise and that Pampered Chef provides many meals during the conference.
  • Several participants agree that a budget of $500-$600 seems reasonable, with some noting that they drive to the conference and share transportation costs.
  • One participant expresses concerns about finding roommates and the potential for snoring, while others share their experiences of how they found compatible roommates through their clusters or the Home Office.
  • Another participant recounts a positive experience from their first conference, highlighting how they were matched with a roommate who turned out to be a good fit, despite initial concerns.
  • Some participants mention that expenses for vendor shopping are often considered part of their business expenses, and they may wait until the conference to make purchases to take advantage of new products.

Areas of Agreement / Disagreement

General agreement exists among participants regarding the estimated costs for attending the conference, with many suggesting budgets in the range of $500-$600. However, there are differing opinions on how to account for food and vendor expenses.

Contextual Notes

Consultants considering attending the conference may find this discussion helpful for understanding potential costs and experiences related to budgeting and roommate arrangements.

BTW..... I'm glad someone asked about how much $$$ for conference...... I've been trying to get my busget worked out. I already bought my plane ticket ($350!!!) and I enrolled in Conference Club long ago, so that's taken care of. I will have to pay my share of the hotel and have some spending money. Luckily I'll have just received my commission ;) I put a little $ in my savings account to stay until I go to conference. I'll add a little more each month (even if it's $20/month, it will add up to a decent amount by July, huh?) and will pay off a credit card before going so that I have it for "backup"!

I hear you on that one... last year I didnt have much time for any saving what so ever... I signed in April bought my ticket in May... and I had NO june shows so I didnt have a commish of any sorts ... it sucked big time......

Can I ask what it is that makes you so nervous about sharing a room with your Executive Director? I mean, I know these are people who have been very successful in their business... but why be nervous around them.... just another person, IMO :)

I met my SED a few months ago and she is the sweetest thing!!!! When I put my hand out to shake hands with her, she gave me a hug instead. Too sweet! (I'm a hugger, so it was cool with me...) And that was on our FIRST meeting! I think I would learn alot and have a great time sharing a room with her!

Sharing beds wouldn't bother me, either.... it just isn't that big a deal to me, I guess because I figure everyone has SOME little quirk about them, so I don't worry about my own, ya know?
I agree with you on that Celeste,
I always share and often meet my new roomie that night of conference.
I mean seriously we were jammies...
There is usually a roommies wanted post around conference time too so if you don't have one or enough to share the cost by then someone is always looking for one or more.
Just post roomies wanted No snoring, smoking... whatever or
Smoker who wants to gab all night. That way you can usually get in a room that has similar considerations.
I find it extremely fun to get in a room with at least two people that the host room person doesn't know then your not the fifth wheel. I have met people from all over the country this. A great way to network PC. just my 2cents
