Here is a something a little different, but a cool idea.
One of the newer consultants on my team came up with an interesting, and successful, twist on her own baby shower (7 months pregnant). She incorporated a Pampered Chef show.
Her friends and family back home wanted to give her a baby shower. She is new and needed one more show to qualify, but complications have made her life crazy. So instead of just the traditional shower, she did a short demo.
She shared with them her reason for becoming a consultant: to be able to stay home with the baby. She also told them all the proceeds from the show would go directly towards purchasing 'baby' things...but that this way, they would be getting something too. Not only did she have great sales, she garnered bookings for when they bring the baby to visit in a few months and some potential catalog shows.
I think this was a great idea. Her friends and family were wonderfully supportive.
