I keep getting asked by my friends to make a blog. I don't know why, I don't have that much excitement in my life and I'm not that witty. And the only thing exciting in my life is PC and I think we aren't allowed to blog about it, right? I know we can't mention it in profiles on websites and forums and chat rooms, but if we have a private blog site is it still not allowed? In what ways could you blog about your life and what things you might be doing because of PC-- without breaking rules?

Obviously one thing I'd have to learn is better grammar... and how to avoid run-on sentences! ;)

Amanda
I have a blog and I talk about things that we have done as a family or whatever you can check it out www.thebroderickbulletin.blogspot.com
and I am sure my grammer and run on sentences are the best bt it is usually only friends and family who look at it.

My Grammar died in 1971, and we buried her right next to Grandpar. I never let that stop me though, and yes, I also have http://www.jrmanning.com. The thing with a blog is that it's a little bit like getting a puppy. At first, it's real cute and a lot of fun, but after awhile, that getting up early to go for a walk and again late at night gets real old, real fast. In my case, I have an excuse - writing the daily updates here and trying to make contributions to Help Find The Missing takes me away from blogging as much as I'd like.Mine isn't about me as much as it's observations of life around me. In my blogroll, you'll find other Cheffers who blog, too.

KG's totally right. I was much better about updating mine when I first started it. The current entry on mine has been up for a month. I do place partial blame for the lack of updates on my employment situation. Now that I'm not working outside the home, I don't interact with as many people (heck, some weeks I don't even leave the house 4 days out of 7). And I'm not disciplined enough to do a daily blog about something I still do every day (like The Food Pornographer).

I love blogging and reading friens blogs! Its a fun way to stay updated.

But are we allowed to blog about, let's say... trying out new recipes for "work", just coming home from a show and being tired, or had a funny experience at a show, etc? Is it okay to reference things, just not use the actual words "Pampered Chef"?

There are creative ways to blog and reference TPC without calling it TPC, and you're right about those references - we'll all know what you mean. Most home-based businesses require home shows/parties/gatherings and interaction with guests. If you do it right, no one will know what products you represent, but it you do it right, everyone will know what products you represent without using the names of the company or the products. :)

I was thinking about having a blog too, but I'm afraid it may be too time consuming when I could be using that time doing other things (such as visiting here).

I was really good about blogging when I first started mine... LOL....but after a while I just kind of quit making it an everyday thing an more of a once a month ( if that) thing....ha ha. It is fun, but I am a comment whore and if i don't think I have people reading it and leaving comments, I just don't post.

BTW the link to my blog is in my siggy

I think blogging can be used an a really effective way of staying connected with your customers, but you have to do it right to stay within HO rules.

I would totally use it to post about trying out recipes and talking about cooking tips. Your *established* customers, who already know you sell, are the ones that are your primary audience. If done right, over time, your customers will refer others to your blog, and through that process, you may find you've attracted some new readers who may be interested in your product!

Just be careful to NOT mention TPC, not link to your PWS, not to say directly that you are a "consultant". There is a list of phrases that you can't use in the business guide...

I also just read that if you tag your blog entries with keywords, it will raise your Google rank significantly, so make sure to take the time to tag them if you want to be "found".

So do you think it's okay to write about experiences with PC recipes and mention them by name? Or do I need to not use their real name, because that would identify them as TPC recipes?
