At least, according to the e-mail I just received with this subject line:

YOU HAVE WON (£2,532,137 GBP) *** CONGRATULATION ***

Yeah - like I'm dumb enough to open that e-mail. You'd think offshore spammers would check spelling and grammar.

What's the most entertaining spam title you've gotten lately? (I can't actually post several of the ones I get.)

I'm sure it's just like telemarketing. They only need 1-2% to respond to be successful.

Some things are really convincing. I get an e-mail once a week claiming to be from Chase credit cards needing to discuss important information about my account.

Seriously though, I was having such a huge problem w/ spammers that I finally changed ISP's (well that was one of the reasons)
I haven't had any problem with spam with my new address, but occasionally check my old address just to make sure an important email didn't get sent there...checked it this morning, and had 177 emails - 176 of them were spam!

Seriously though, I was having such a huge problem w/ spammers that I finally changed ISP's (well that was one of the reasons)
I haven't had any problem with spam with my new address, but occasionally check my old address just to make sure an important email didn't get sent there...checked it this morning, and had 177 emails - 176 of them were spam!

When you have a domain with your name on it, like jrmanning dot com, you get allllll kinds of spam. Like I said, good taste prevents me from posting most of the thread titles. There are at least 25 per day that hit my spam folder, that I stopped looking at. The one I listed in the first post just got past the filter.

I got these four the same day, all from "different" senders:
"furiously"
"syntheses disinherit"
"flour awoke"
"irascible gas"
Now, why would anyone open something like that?!?!?! I was actually just noticing this morning that my Spam has slowed considerably! Whew! I'm sure it'll pick up again, though.

There was a guy from Canada that took $10,000 out of his account! Anyway, grandpa called me one day and actually told me to watch tv that night because he thought that he was going to be announced as a winner that night! I told him that I got the same letter! Then he called my mom and she had gotten one too! He couldn't believe it and quit believing that PCH thing! He would order constantly thinking that it would give him a better chance to win!

Elderly are scam targets for things like furnace repair, plumbing, driveway sealing and paving, and all that sort of crap.

I'd like to see corporal punishment come back - like stocks and pillories. Put grifters like them into the stocks and let the families have first shot at them with the rotten vegtables. Same fate for smokers who empty their car ashtrays in parking lots.

(I'm not anti-smoking - I'm anti-stupid smoker.)

My grandpa got all caught up in several scams....including also some televangelists, who, once he got on their "list" just kept calling and asking for more and more money. He got very belligerent about it too when my dad and my aunt tried to tell him he was being scammed....insisted that the prayer cloth he had bought was legit ....my dad ended up having to take over his finances also. It was either that or watch him lose his whole retirement!

I totally agree KG - those crooks should have a special place for punishment! The sad part is, 99% of them never get caught!
