Congratulations! You've Won £2,532,137 GBP - Don't Fall for This Scam!

In summary, someone received an email with the subject line "In summary, you have won £2,532,137 GBP." They concluded the thread by saying that they are happy to receive spam, because it makes it more entertaining. They also said that they had changed their ISP and had not had any problems with spam in the past, but that it would occasionally come through their old address. They also said they were currently working on a Tough Target thread, but that they were having trouble keeping people interested. Finally, they said they had just won the lottery and were very rich.

At least, according to the e-mail I just received with this subject line:

YOU HAVE WON (£2,532,137 GBP) *** CONGRATULATION ***

Yeah - like I'm dumb enough to open that e-mail. You'd think offshore spammers would check spelling and grammar.

What's the most entertaining spam title you've gotten lately? (I can't actually post several of the ones I get.)

hehehe... makes ya wonder at times.

I won the lottery in Hawaii this morning!! Go me! I didn't buy a ticket or anything and live in Indiana!

WOW! I got the same message! Does that mean we both won?

Wow KgI'm sure after you send them your account information or a couple thousand dollars you will be rich!

I can't believe people actually fall for this stuff! It's so sad that people want to get rich quick so they fall for anything!!

I will be sure to post some of my spam email from scammers if I can find them.

Debbie :D

I was all excited when I saw the title of the thread but yeah, I get those ALL the time as well!!

It's just the latest version of the old pidgeon drop.

I'm sure it's just like telemarketing. They only need 1-2% to respond to be successful.

Some things are really convincing. I get an e-mail once a week claiming to be from Chase credit cards needing to discuss important information about my account.

I can't get anyone to look at a serious and important thread, like the Tough Target thread, but I can get people to look at silliness.

Go figure.

We're Rich!!!

Seriously though, I was having such a huge problem w/ spammers that I finally changed ISP's (well that was one of the reasons)
I haven't had any problem with spam with my new address, but occasionally check my old address just to make sure an important email didn't get sent there...checked it this morning, and had 177 emails - 176 of them were spam!

When you have a domain with your name on it, like jrmanning dot com, you get allllll kinds of spam. Like I said, good taste prevents me from posting most of the thread titles. There are at least 25 per day that hit my spam folder, that I stopped looking at. The one I listed in the first post just got past the filter.

I got these four the same day, all from "different" senders:
"furiously"
"syntheses disinherit"
"flour awoke"
"irascible gas"
Now, why would anyone open something like that?!?!?! I was actually just noticing this morning that my Spam has slowed considerably! Whew! I'm sure it'll pick up again, though.

"irascible [sic] gas" is a rather entertaining title.

Seems I win a lot of laptops. LOL The porn and the 'buy our stock' ones have learned that misspelling and funky titles make it past the filters.

I have actually had a few million Turkish Lira(don't know how to spell lira) in my hot little hands.

Of course, that's only about 75 cents!

If that was Turkish Taffy in your hands, then you'd really have something!

That's as bad as Publisher's Clearing House! My grandpa is going to be 85 and was so caught up in scams.....my uncle took guardianship over his money! There was a guy from Canada that took $10,000 out of his account! Anyway, grandpa called me one day and actually told me to watch tv that night because he thought that he was going to be announced as a winner that night! I told him that I got the same letter! Then he called my mom and she had gotten one too! He couldn't believe it and quit believing that PCH thing! He would order constantly thinking that it would give him a better chance to win!

I love the ones that don't make a lot of sense. One I received today: inordinately ****roach.

Some of 'em, like yours, are entertaining and Ann's with the fractured English are also amazing. Today, so far, I have SKM/7405/66/12 from Striker Millions and Urgent Assistance Required from jamespeter13.Nice try, morons.

Sad, isn't it?

Elderly are scam targets for things like furnace repair, plumbing, driveway sealing and paving, and all that sort of crap.

I'd like to see corporal punishment come back - like stocks and pillories. Put grifters like them into the stocks and let the families have first shot at them with the rotten vegtables. Same fate for smokers who empty their car ashtrays in parking lots.

(I'm not anti-smoking - I'm anti-stupid smoker.)

My grandpa got all caught up in several scams....including also some televangelists, who, once he got on their "list" just kept calling and asking for more and more money. He got very belligerent about it too when my dad and my aunt tried to tell him he was being scammed....insisted that the prayer cloth he had bought was legit:eek: ....my dad ended up having to take over his finances also. It was either that or watch him lose his whole retirement!

I totally agree KG - those crooks should have a special place for punishment! The sad part is, 99% of them never get caught!
