Californians: Economic Impact and Unemployment in So Cal

ARe you feeling this economic Crunch as much as me? The past two months my show average has been about $200~! Never thought, this economy would affect my biz but it turns out it has! Then I saw on the news that CA has had the highest unemployment rate since the 90s was it ( some family members have lost jobs and cannot find new ones) ? Just wondering how you Californians are doing in comparison to So Cal area?

Hahaha, love how you list it as if it's two different states!! Too funny. I'm originally from the SF Bay Area, and moved away shortly before Arnie became governor (in other words, just in time!).

Have you seen the March CN? Lots of advice on how to turn the economy to your advantage.

I'm in Nor Cal, it's not any better up here. I don't focus on the economy, still do my normal thing. But it's kinda hard to do the normal thing at my shows when all the hosts cancel because their friends say no to the invites because they don't have money for "stuff like that" right now.
I've encouraged guests to say that it's an evening of fun food and friends and just a nice reason to get out of the house, etc, etc, but it doesn't seem to work.I know people are still spending money. I was at John's Incredible Pizza (a place for kids and adult to eat and play) and it was PACKED! I had to stand in line for almost an hour just to get in. My parents just went to a casino that recently opened and they said it was standing room around all the tables and people were waiting 3 deep for a seat!

Heather same here, I am having a hard time getting them to commit. I really trying to promote the quick easy $2 a serving. It was a huge hit at my customer appreciation, but no bookings.

I'm on the central coast, Monterey, and I haven't had a problem. Then again I cater more to the military side of the town so we haven't been hit like others. I had a $700 show last month and I'm in the midst of closing a $600 show tomorrow (with 3 catalog shows). Of course I'll say my monthly is only about $1200 but last month turned in $1875 and this month I hope to do the $1250!

I was going to do a Host appreciation this month but decided to push it out some, hoping the economy would start to pick up, so they will Book parties for late spring-summer!?!
