Bamboo Utensil Dishwasher Safety: Is It Possible?

Does anyone know why some of the bamboo products are dishwasher safe (spoons, spreader) and others are not (tongs, ladle)? Just curious.

I know that the ladle has some sort of glue that holds the handle and the "scoop" part together, so that is the part that is not dishwasher safe. I assume that where the tongs are connected is what affects them as well.

As long as there is no glue joint (as mentioned above) bamboo can go in the dishwasher without any problems.

I have used my dishwasher for my bamboo spoons and spatulas in the past, but one time, the spatula fell out of the silverware tray and landed on the heating element. It has a really nice burn mark now. Someone I work with had the same thing happen to her too. So yes, they are dishwasher safe, BUT...

Same thing happened to me, too. Silly thing!

I had to buy new tongs because DH had put them in the dishwasher. The pin in them seemed to swell or something and they don't close flat anymore.Only items without glue or other parts (as mentioned above) are dishwasher safe.

I always lay my wood spoons in the top rack of the dishwasher, keeps them safe
