Someone referred to a show at which one serves beverages and appetizers. The first four letters of this type of party were starred out by our filter.

I've seen this happen before.

Is there any way the filter can be tweaked so that real words that are not vulgar don't fall through this trap?

Kind of reminds me of another forum where people had to refer to the cellar so as to not have basement caught by the filter!
 
Nope. It's a "feature" of the forum software and has no intelligence built in. The only way to stop it is to turn off the censoring completely.

It took me a minute too. I couldn't figure out what was so bad about the basement.

Took me a few minutes to figure that out too when I first heard it.

Well, I guess that's OK ... I would hate to see a lack of filtering, I guess ... but what is an alternative word we can use for those, ahem, beverage parties?
 
why dont you put c0ck instead. Just replace the o with a 0

I don't have a problem with turning the filter off as this is a mature semi-private community. Anyone have a problem with this?

I'd say you are safe giving it a shot and if a problem arises where someone registers and things get out of hand, we can always report it right away and if it got too bad, Greg can always consider turning it back on.
 
I don't think it matters either way... maybee turn it off for a while and see how it goes.
 
Greg, that would be helpful, because I'm a little slow most days, and it took me forever to figure out what word they meant when they typed ****tail.

There was another word I saw the other day that was "***'d" out and I did never figure out what that word was! :) LOL

You do not wanna know how long it took me to figure out what naughty word was hidden in "basement". At times I'm glad I'm sheltered and naive, and at other times it's really a pain in the neck.;)

Dh said he loves us catholic school girls and I will say at least the ones at my school wer the worst. They pound into your head to be reserved and proper and we just all rebelled and were wild things, oh the things my poor mother had to deal with!

yummmm, chocolate, DH would like that. Our neighborhood/bunko group is well known for those having those Pure Romance parties. We have a drawer full of stuff we never use because we are too tired and have 3 kids. ha ha
