What is the fair price for my consultant's leftover items?

Click For Summary
A consultant has gone inactive and is looking to sell various items before storing the rest. The seller indicated a willingness to negotiate prices, stating that interested buyers should make offers. The items include catalogs, brochures, DVDs, recipe cards, and invitations, with some prices already noted and others left to be determined. There is a consensus among potential buyers that the initial prices are too high, and suggestions include offering about half of retail prices. Specific examples of pricing discussions indicate that a reasonable offer for catalogs might be around $12, taking into account shipping and the need to avoid undervaluing the items. Overall, the focus is on finding a fair price that respects the seller's needs while remaining budget-friendly for buyers.

I have a consultant who went inactive about 3 months ago. At that time, she wanted to sell some of her stuff but I found the prices too much for me. I talked to her today and told her that I couldn't remember the prices and she said at this point, she's ready to pack the stuff up and store in the attic. She said to just offer a price.

So, I'm coming to you. WHat do you think and how much would you offer?

Anyone have any ideas of how much to offer her?

I would take retail price and cut it in half. Some of her things are WAYYYY too high!

I'm with Deb.

Ditto what Deb & Lisa said

I wouldn't pay more than $12 for the catalogs. That's what I sell them to my team for if I have extras and they need them. ($45/4 = $11.25. I round it up to $12 to cover tax - actual cost to me $12.01. I know I am eating shipping but then I am their director.)

I agree her prices are high on the other things too.

That's exactly why I didn't buy them sooner. I thought they were ridicously high and I wouldn't pay it. So, I don't want it to be a slap in the face and say too low but I don't want to pay an arm and a leg either. Ugh!
