What Is Bumping & How Does It Help Posts?

Click For Summary
Bumping a post is a common practice in forums to bring it back to the top of the thread list. When users want to increase visibility for their posts, they can reply with a simple "bump" or any other message, which moves the thread to the top of the new posts section. This helps others see the thread more easily. While using "bump" is effective, users can also phrase their replies differently, such as asking for help, to achieve the same result. The 'new posts' feature allows users to view the most recently active threads, making it easier to find bumped content.

bump something? I always see how people want their post back near the top and then they "bump" it. Am I missing something?

I think you just reply to a post and that moves it to the top, however I'm not sure. Janet, Quiverfull, KG, Chefann...they probaly know... if they are even on- they'll tell you :)

Just post again, type "bump"

Any new reply will 'bump' that thread back up to the top of the thread chain. Most easily see if you use the 'new posts' feature of the forum. There you see the most recently active threads... You don't have to write bump unless you are trying to keep your own thread up toward the top of new posts or the top of that particular section (depending on how you cruise this site)... some folks choose to write things like "hello... can anyone help?" or something similar... but bump works and that's what it means if you see it. :)
