Tax-Deductible GPS System for Your Car | Maximize Your Expenses for PC Shows!

In summary, my DH got me a GPS system for my car for Christmas and I was wondering if anyone knows whether I can write it off as a tax expense. He bought it for me because of my PC shows.

so far I do. I might have to see about trading it though everytime I turn it on it goes to a white screen and I have to reboot it. The biggest problem with returning the thing is I dont have a store near me

I got one for Christmas too (Garmin) and so far love it. It is going to be terrific doing those shows when I have NO idea where I am going plus looking for a house in the dark. I believe he bought it at WalMart for $187.

If you pay $10.00 per month you can get GPS on your cell phone too. My friend did it when we went to the casino in CT and it was awesome!!!!

wow, guess they were all thinking the same..got one too...a Garmin...love it! Definitely writing it off...he paid right around 200.00 for it...

Question about gps unitsDH and I are going to buy ourselves an after Christmas present. We want to get a gps but don't know much about them. What's the best one for the price? Also, do you need to pay a monthly fee or anything on them to keep them updated? TIA

I got mine for Christmas too. Then I told my DH I needed the receipt so I could write it off.

My DH got me a Garmin too! I "practiced" using it today (going to the grocery store...just to see what it's like) and I am IN LOVE!! Nighttime shows during the winter months are my fear (can't see well at night) and this will help tremendously!

don't you just love it..I practiced with mine today trying to get from a mall out to a high school basketball game with 5 kids in the car, and was already running late...it helped tremendously...now if it would just feed my kids in the car and keep them from fighting with each other!! ha ha
For those looking to get one, my hubby knows quite a bit about them and recommends the Garmin...very easy to operate.

1. How can a GPS system be tax-deductible for my car?

As a Pampered Chef consultant, you are considered self-employed and can deduct any business-related expenses from your taxes. A GPS system used for PC shows is considered a necessary tool for your business and can be deducted from your taxes as a business expense.

2. How much of the cost can I deduct?

The cost of the GPS system can be fully deducted as a business expense, as long as it is used solely for PC shows and not for personal use.

3. Can I deduct the cost of monthly GPS service fees?

Yes, you can deduct the monthly service fees for your GPS system as a business expense as long as it is used for PC shows. However, if you also use the GPS for personal use, you can only deduct the portion of the fees that is used for business purposes.

4. What if I already have a GPS system for personal use?

If you already have a GPS system for personal use, you can still deduct the cost of a separate GPS system used solely for PC shows. However, you will need to keep detailed records and only deduct the portion of the cost that is used for business purposes.

5. Can I deduct the cost of a GPS system if I only use it occasionally for PC shows?

Yes, you can still deduct the cost of a GPS system even if you only use it occasionally for PC shows. As long as it is a necessary tool for your business, you can deduct the full cost as a business expense.
