Today just after 3 pm - a gunman killed 4 people, injured at least 18 and killed himself in a shooting spree at Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, IL. I live just 30 minutes from there - my husband is an alum. It's so sad thinking about these poor kids and their families - if everyone could pray for them - I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

I just heard this a few hours ago. :( Sorry to hear.

I went to MSOE and although not publicized, the suicide rate was AT LEAST 1 student per year. The sad thing is not only are these kids (oops adults) killing themselves but others! ...and the impact to family, friends, professors, medical professional, firefighters, police officers is a lot.

This is totally crazy how this keeps happening at these schools. It's just so tragic. I keep hearing the helicopters overhead heading back and forth to Northern Illinois. I can't believe it.:(
 
they are in my prayers, this is so sad:( What makes me even sadder is that it's on Valentines Day. It doesn't make much a difference what day it is, it is traggic anyway you look at it on any day, but I'm sure most of the victims had Valentines plans and their loved ones are devastated...
I just don't understand..... But I will pray, because God is our healer and comforter.

I've been so sad all day today - it just breaks my heart for the victims and their families - that their lives were changed because of one selfish deranged killer!
 
I just can't believe how many of these are happening anymore! I just don't get it...
 
One of my oldest friends (she is not that old, I have just been friends with her for a LONG time-29 years) is a professor at Northern. She was in a building close to where the shooting happened. She said that of course, it was chaos for a bit, but the staff and students were wonderful, and paramedic and police were so on the ball, and organized- It is so sad that you have to practice and drill for things like this, isn't it?
