I chop up some heath bar in mine....and i also added some kahlua to the pudding. (It called for 2 pkgs of pudding, and said 1/3 cup of kahlua, but I added a little extra....and to my tasting, I should have added a bit more as well)

Oh..Thanks alot Lacy (&Harriet) I'll try that 1 tonight.....I wonder if the scor has nuts or nut by products...I'll have to check it out...Thanks again:D

I think that a skor bar is the same as a heath bar....or could be substituted if you need to avoid nuts!

How about chopping up some reese's peanut butter cups??? Chocolate and peanut butter always go well together!

Just make sure you don't use PeterPan PB!!

The red things look like the special swirled mini kisses for baking. They come in different flavors and colors.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a trifle and how is it typically made?

A trifle is a layered dessert that usually consists of sponge cake, custard, fruit, and whipped cream. To make a trifle, start by layering pieces of cake at the bottom of a large glass dish, followed by layers of custard, fresh fruit, and whipped cream. Repeat the layers until the dish is full, finishing with a layer of whipped cream on top. You can also add nuts or chocolate shavings for extra flavor and texture.

What are some creative flavor combinations for trifles?

There are endless flavor combinations for trifles! Some popular ideas include chocolate cake with chocolate pudding, strawberries, and whipped cream; lemon cake with lemon curd, blueberries, and whipped cream; or vanilla cake with mixed berries and a vanilla custard. You can also experiment with different types of cakes, such as red velvet or carrot cake, to create unique trifles.

Can I make a trifle ahead of time?

Yes, trifles can be made ahead of time! In fact, making them a few hours or even a day in advance can enhance the flavors as the ingredients meld together. Just be sure to cover the trifle with plastic wrap or a lid to keep it fresh. However, if you’re using delicate fruits like bananas, it’s best to add those just before serving to prevent browning.

What are some tips for assembling a trifle?

When assembling a trifle, use a clear glass dish to showcase the beautiful layers. Start with a layer of cake at the bottom and ensure each layer is evenly distributed. Use a spatula to spread custard or whipped cream smoothly. For added decoration, you can top the trifle with fresh fruit, chocolate shavings, or nuts. Remember to use a gentle hand to avoid mixing the layers too much!

Are there any special tools or products from Pampered Chef that can help with making a trifle?

Yes! Pampered Chef offers several products that can be helpful for making trifles. The Trifle Bowl is perfect for showcasing your layers, and the Mix ‘N Chop can be used to prepare fruits or crumble cake easily. Additionally, the Classic Batter Bowl is great for mixing custards or whipped creams. Investing in these tools can make the process smoother and more enjoyable!
