It has been very hush hush. The Oregon organizer wouldn't say a word. Just told us we would be receiving a big box of things sent to our house. My husband is pretty sure the VP will be announced today, because on the conference call two weeks ago they were told there would be no t-shirts handed out until the VP was announced. We're getting t-shirts today in the email. Gotta go!

The one who irritates me the most is Al Franken......sooooo, being a comic from SNL qualifies you how?

Al Franken's qualifications are that he's a thinking person. Everyone's got to start somewhere. Otherwise noone could ever run for office or critique someone in office unless they had previously held office. That wouldn't be the best democracy, would it?

Except he doesn't know everything. That's why he had to go ask Fidel Castro how to run a nationalized health care system.

Political insiders are confirming that the announcement is going to be made this week. Some insiders are speculating that it will be Mitt Romney, but that is unsubstantiated.

Darn. McCain made his appearance elsewhere today. No big announcement yet. Our event was at the Korean War Memorial in Wilsonville, OR. We heard from some prominent war veterans. It was neat. I reallly hoped to see McCain. He is supposed to come in August. That event we will be on stage with him.

If them's the choices, I'll take Sean Penn over Al Sharpton! At least you didn't offer up Jesse Jackson!

LOL! Seriously. Michael Moron (oops, I mean Moore) makes my skin crawl.

After further review...The announcement won't be this week. This is all designed to draw some media attention away from the Asian tour.It isn't going to be Romney - they've dropped that name too many times. Names are dropped as trial balloons, to see what the reaction to a veep candidate from certain circles. Romney is drawing outrage from many circles.I predict the nominee is going to be young (at least, younger than McCain) attractive to the conservatives, attractive to the religious right, and someone who offers something McCain doesn't. It is going to have to be someone who appears to be the future of the party, whether or not the McCain ticket wins or loses, the veep candidate will likely be the Presidential candidate for 2012. I also believe the veep candidate is going to come from one of the battleground states, one of the ones where the Democrats typically win, but not by much, like Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ohio or Pennsylvania.I think it's going to be the governor of Minnesota, Tim Pawlenti. He was elected on a pledge to balance the state budget without raising taxes, and did. He's also deep in the corn hopper for ethanol and should attract that crowd, and he has dark hair. Also, the Washington Compost doesn't like him, which means they're afraid he might be an effective choice. Just a guess. His name is also all over the news, and is being dropped in many tight circles, so I think he may be the guy.
